"Some Random Band – no, not just any band, Some Random Band!"

Need some local music to keep you going as you head back to class? If so, check out Some Random Band!

Pop rock with a dash of punk and killer harmonies might just be the closest thing to a personal soundtrack you’ll find this season – the perfect album to pop in your CD player while driving to a football game this fall or to wake you up from your most boring class.

SRB’s latest album, More Or Less, is less of a local sound clash and more of an ode to the love in SRB’s lives. Seamless production and first rate musicianship don’t hurt either – sounds really good, actually!

‘Broken Hearted Kisses’ and ‘Before You Fall’ display the range of music SRB can pull off and pull off well. Buy your own copy of More or Less here... OR check these guys out when they hit The Gothic Theatre on Wednesday, October 10th - The Gothic Theatre

"Some Random Band to Play the Gothic"

Some Random Band is more than just … well, some random band.

A fusion of soft and alternative rock pervades the sound of these local indie-rockers.

The group composed of Brandon Fuelling on guitar, Zach Flower on bass, Mitch Nelson on drums and Paul Hummel on vocals combines soft-spoken lyrics with light guitar riffs to give a pop-punk, jam band style with a classic rock feel.

"I'd say that we are trying to keep classic rock alive. A lot of bands are trying to use keyboards and piano, but we are trying to stay away from cliché," Hummel said.

The musicians, all Colorado locals, began in Golden when, in 2004, Hummel and Fuelling decided to start a band. The two founders devised a unique name to accompany their creative blend of music, and Some Random Band was born.

Two years after their original formation, the band welcomed Flower and Nelson, completing the group. Shortly after the arrival of the two newest members, the group won a local high school battle of the bands competition, which marked the beginning of the group's journey.

"We started out having fun, and we have now become much more professional," Flower said.

Since winning the competition nearly two years ago, the band has been busy recording their debut album, "More or Less." The album illustrates the group's progression, as they have spent the majority of their career creating it.

"What began as a six-song EP eventually turned into a 13-song album," Hummel said.

The album is currently available on iTunes, Napster and on the band's Web site.

"All of us write the songs," Flower said. "Most of the songs are stories from our own lives."

Excited about their new album, Some Random Band is now focused on touring and spreading their music.

"We are extremely hard working, all very passionate about music. We love playing together. We have an incredible fan base. We adore them," said Hummel.

Some Random Band will be taking the stage on Oct. 10, headlining at the Gothic Theatre in Denver. My So Called Friend, Light's Resolve and Roe will all be performing at the venue as well.

With dreams of stardom and playing their music across the country, the Gothic is surely just the beginning for these rising musicians. - The Campus Press

Bio

For SRB, it’s all about having a unique sound, one marked by a young, current and modern style but also includes more “classic” influences like bridges, solos and layered arrangements. Bob Dylan, Third Eye Blind, Boston, Counting Crows, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20 are just a few of the artists SRB credits with influencing their style and sound.

The band was formed initially in 2004 by Paul Hummel (lead vocals, guitar) and Brandon Fuelling (lead guitar, bg vocals) in order to participate in Standley Lake High School’s battle of the bands. When asked the name of their band, the guys stared at each other blankly until Paul finally said, “we’re just some random band.” Thusly, Some Random Band was born.

SRB went through various personnel adjustments before Brandon’s older brother finally introduced them to drummer Mitch Nelson. Shortly thereafter, Brandon reunited with old friend and now bassist Zach Flower. Zach completed the band’s lineup and completed the circuit of influence and inspiration that would flow through each band member and make them into the songwriting marvel that they have become.
Today the band continues to mature and hone their musical skills. SRB writes all of their own songs and each member has contributed to the body of work that is More or Less, their debut CD (2007, Some Random Band). and continues to create a unique style of music that combines layers of guitar with layers of vocals.

Some Random Band is fresh, modern rock with “classic rock sensibilities,” beautiful melodies, intricate songwriting and arrangement, soulful, heartfelt lyrics about life, love and the pursuit of happiness and good, old fashioned guitar shredding. SRB is a fresh, young band with a musical maturity beyond their years, bringing the “classic” back to rock.” This band and this album exemplifies everything that is good and pure about rock and roll.
