Bio

SOMETHING FOR ROCKETS catapulted to their current status as one of the most sought after bands in LA with little more than a flashy website and a self-released album. Successfully circumventing the norm, their self-titled debut hit #1 on Insound when MTV News chose the band for a “You Hear It First” profile — and stayed at #1 for three weeks following. The CMJ charts quickly caught on, rocketing Rockets to the Top 50. Most reacenty the boys acted as correspondents for MTV at SXSW in Austin TX. The news piece featured the band interviewing other bands and showed clips of SFR playing live. The piece was run over 20 times over the span of two days on MTV and MTVU.

Select tracks from the album were played over and over by Steve Jones at LA’s indie 103.1 and made waves at KCRW, so it didn’t take long for Silverlake’s Spaceland to make SOMETHING FOR ROCKETS their Monday night resident buzz-band. Due to rampant irresistibility and nation-wide mounting acclaim, their songs landed on MTV’s “The Real World,” Kia commercials (!), and Vice Magazine’s December 2004 sampler.

Now, the band is gearing up for their first full-US tour. And still, they remain without major label distribution. Sheer anomaly? Perhaps. But there’s no doubting the power of an addictive song. You see, when most people hear SFR on the radio or catch them in a smoky, sweaty club just ONCE, they’re officially hooked.
