London-based trio, Some Velvet Morning made up of drummer Rob Flanagan and brothers Des and Gavin Lambert reach the United States this fall with their highly anticipated debut album release on October 9. Following a string of successful singles, “Losing My Mind,” “Settle Down,” and “Pretty Girl” their New York-based indie label, RhythmBank Entertainment, is putting out the entire album this fall, featuring 11 tracks that capture their live energy.
For years the band has been a regular fixture on London’s live music scene drawing inspiration from their predecessors: Blondie, The Police, U2 and The Beatles. After being signed to Rythmbank Entertainment by Vicki Wickham (Producer: Ready, Steady Go) and Nona Hendryx (Labelle/Talking Heads) Some Velvet Morning were able to record their album with Rik Simpson producing (Kasabian/Coldplay) along with Mike Pelanconi (Lilly Allen). The album was recorded and mixed at several studios including Mayfair, The Strongrooms, Miloco and the legendary underground ‘Fishmarket’ complex.
Their first single from the album, “Losing My Mind” was released in February of 2007 and is the most recommended song on AmieStreet.com-the DRM-free independent music download site. They are launching the second single, “Settle Down” on the site June 12 followed by a September release of the third single. “Pretty Girl.” They plan to perform a series of promotional concerts in NYC upon their arrival here in October to celebrate this milestone in the career.
They have already seen success in the UK as well as in Russia and Croatia, most recently completing a series of shows in Moscow. They have done all this through their indie label RhythmBank Entertainment
