Somilia Rabee

Somilia Rabee emerges from the depths of self reflection to release her first independently recorded and produced album “Beats, Sounds, Life…” The seven song EP is a culmination of electro infused rhythms and jazzy synth pop melodies, blended with a vocal resonance that is sultry and deep and a flow that can go from slow and smooth to rapid fire without a moments notice. Raised in Kansas City, Somilia Rabee relocated to Chicago to attend DePaul University. Since then, Somilia has spent the last several years recording and performing with several groups like the Chicago based Electro Hip Hop Band, The HEARD www.myspace.com/HEARDCHICAGO and Kansas City based Neo-Soul duo The WildFlowers www.chemicalnine.com/thewildflowers. In late 2008, Somilia made the decision to release her first solo effort under her music and event production start up, Bad Girlz Productions. With musical influences ranging from The Heath Brothers to Herbie Hancock and Lauryn Hill to Phoebe Snow, Somilia’s production style developed into one that combines various genres into a unique groove, taking listeners on a fantastic journey through space and time. Coalesced with thought provoking lyrics about life and love, “Beats, Sounds, Life…” is truly a reflection of that. Fresh off of a 25 city tour around the U.S., the Chicago based artist is currently in production for a full length release that will be available in Spring 2010. Unapologeticaly out and quickly building a following in LGBTQ and Straight communities throughout the globe, her hope is to create a synergy of music enthusiasts, creators and supporters. Joining with people who are founded in the fundamentals of quality, inclusiveness and equal opportunity and who are willing to do whatever it takes to bring the music born out of this community to the masses.
