It has been the pleasure of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival to have, on more than one occasion, the great, audience appreciated performances of Sonata Pi. Specifically, on June 26, 2004 Sonata Pi performed on our Fesitval Garden Stage and had the audience of thousands on their feet and asking for more of their fantastic Jazz/Blues renditions. The Monterey Blues Festival is pleased to share that not only was Sonata Pi a marvelous addition to the 56 groups performing at 19th Annual Monterey Bay Blues Festival, but were instrumental in the Festivals yet another sold out success! Bio

Chase Ruffin
Founder, Singer, musician and published songwriter, has performed and toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe with groups such as: We Friends, The Defiance, The Zodiac 5, Solid Ice, Tongue ‘N’ Chic, and Ivory Monkey. Chase is a gifted songwriter, who can be credited for having many of his songs performed by local and national musicians and singers over the years. Other credits during his career include working with, or opening for Gene Chandler, Chuck Berry, Parliament/Funkadelic, Shelia E., Quiet Riot and many others.
Maureen Antoinette
Has performed for many years, has recorded with Starship, The Bobs, Shaka Ra, Zakiya Hooker and Jimmy McCracklin. Her career includes performances at the House of Blues in Hollywood, the Paramount Theater in Oakland, Biscuits-n-Blues in San Francisco, and Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago. Maureen has graced Bay Area and international audiences with her vocal gift, and says that she “Never remembers not singing”, and that “Music is her life!”
J.R. Stewart
A seasoned professional, has proven his ability to thrill audiences with his versatile, fiery and impressive four octave range while performing with Ecstasy, Solid Ice, Street Sounds, Flexx and E.C. Scott and Smoke. During his career, “J.R.’s” vocal prowess has also been displayed during performances with the Spinners, Huey Lewis, Boz Skaggs, Jr. Walker & the All Stars and Lou Rawls. In addition to performing as a singer, “J.R.” has also achieved acclaim for roles he’s portrayed in various theater ensembles.
