"Premiere: RALPH - 'Something More' Good times disco with a bittersweet after-taste..."

RALPH - Toronto's Raffa Weyman - has always obsessed over music.
Growing up, she would continually perform around the house wearing facial glitter and feather boas, and this bright streak has remained within her.

Drawing from disco, pop, and other illicit loves, RALPH's music brims with ambition, but there's also a perennial sense of adolescence.
New cut 'Something More' was inspired by Aziz Ansari's Netflix show 'Master of None’, with RALPH commenting: "The show honestly narrates the existential issues faced by young adults now. Consumed with social media and dating apps, we're obsessed with the idea of something more or someone better, often leading us to sabotage the good things we have."

Check it out now. - Clash Magazine

"Something More - RALPH"

Although Toronto-based songstress RALPH isn't one to release material frequently, we can always count on her to give us something well worth our time. Following up on her modern and dance-able cut, "Cold To The Touch", a couple months back, today she has returned with another quality single in "Something More". Clean-cut, minimal, and groovy, the track conveys a dreamy, radio-friendly pop sound that is bound to appeal to a large audience. Its fluctuating synths and powerful drums used set the stage for RALPH's dynamic, crystal-clear voice, as the two work elements work in great harmony here. Although debonair, the track also finds inspiration in the disco sound, and, with this combination, we get something that is a bit nostalgic as well. - Hillydilly

"RALPH has something more for you to enjoy - Toronto shines yet again."

Following on from previous release 'Cold To The Touch', Toronto's Raffa Weyman (aka RALPH) returns with the stunning 'Something More', which is a brilliantly icy-cool, '80s-inspired synth-pop record of grandeur which is - rather bizarrely - inspired by Aziz Ansari's hit show Master of None.

"The show honestly narrates the existential issues faced by young adults now," she explained in a press release. "Consumed with social media and dating apps, we're obsessed with the idea of something more or someone better, often leading us to sabotage the good things we have." 'Something More' is available now via all good digital platforms. - the 405

"RALPH SETS POP ABLAZE WITH ‘COLD TO THE TOUCH’"

Sharp, quick-thinking track is a bright sign of things to come.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from RALPH.

RALPH (aka Raffa Weyman) is a Toronto-based newcomer spinning pop on its head, somersaulting in the same move.

Her new song, ‘Cold to the Touch’, is about the emotions at play in “a casual fling”, but it’s such an A-grade banger it could be about anything. Sharp, jolting, chock full of slap bass - it’s a magnetic introduction to Weyman’s slick touch.

And in a year stuffed with massive chart-ready singles, RALPH’s latest is up there with the best of them. ‘80s nodding without being a mere tribute, it’s a flashy, glossy glimpse of the future. - DIY Magazine

"Cold to The Touch - RALPH"

Obsessed with ‘70s disco and ‘80s style pop keys, RALPH sure likes her classics ranging from Prince to Fleetwood Mac. Amidst of all the disco flair and contemporary pop melodies, she gently breaks your heart without you even realizing on her new track Cold to the Touch. “Not looking for love / you leave my body cold to the touch // just trying to be honest, I’m not what you wanted” she tells her (former) love who is probably just dancing to this total tune. Poor guy, great song. - Disco Naivete

"Ralph drops her infectious summer jam 'Cold To The Touch'"

Blending cool, soulful vocals with catchy synth beats, 'Cold To The Touch' is the perfect smooth summer jam.

Breakups never sounded so good. Toronto-native RALPH's sophomore release 'Cold to the Touch' is the perfect smooth summer jam.

Blending cool, soulful vocals with catchy synth beats, 'Cold To The Touch' nods to 80s-inspired artists like Shura or Jessie Ware but with a refreshing upbeat, joyous sensibility. - the 405

"RALPH drops new disco dream in ‘Cold To The Touch’"

If Sade, Stevie Nicks & Donna Summers had a love child, it would be RALPH. Well, that’s how the Toronto vocalist describes her musical aesthetic. In a follow up to her hit Trouble, the singer has given us yet another reason to notice, with a new tune called Cold To The Touch.

Delivering some funky bass and crafty synth work, ‘Cold To The Touch’ is a disco dream. With the crisp vocal work, hopefully Cold To The Touch is an excerpt of that debut EP we so desperately now want. In the year long wait since the release of Trouble, RALPH’s latest release appears to be the perfect follow up, with it proving she is a name we highly suggest you jump on board with. - The Interns

"GIMME YOUR ANSWERS: A VIDEO INTERVIEW W/ RALPH"

Toronto synth-pop group RALPH are gearing up for the release of their debut EP. Before bringing their groovy seventies and disco vibes to a sold-out show, recently opening for Oh Wonder, AMBY had a chat with RALPH front-woman Råffå Weymån. Watch as we discuss dance tunes, horror films, industry crushes, creating their debut EP, seventies fashion, AND she shows us her Cher impression. - A Music Blog Yea?

"PREMIERE: Take a Joyride with Ralph for Her Debut Video “Trouble”"

With the wind in your hair and your best friends in tow, barreling down a highway on a warm summer’s night is the stuff dreams are made of. Unless of course you’re on the run for murdering your ex-lover, then it’s just a nightmare. Fortunately for us, Toronto artist Ralph keeps the getaway illusion alive and well in her new video for “Trouble.” Set to appear on her upcoming EP, the video for “Trouble” follows Ralph as she evades the authorities for a crime she most definitely committed. Directed by Kit Knows, the video opens with Ralph stealing the car of her former flame, and then heading out onto the open road to lead a life of crime. Amidst the bloodshed and theft, the video for “Trouble” also exudes a great amount of joy and freedom as well. Even though we’re made aware of her dark deeds from the beginning, you can’t help but root for Ralph as she pursues her own personal nirvana.

“I kept imagining this crew of bad-girls in a red convertible, getting caught up in the thrill of danger,” says the 27-year-old Torontonian. “I talked to my director (and brother), Kit Knows, and we started playing with the imagery and themes of classic outlaw road movies—sunsets, money, empty highways, danger in the air. It sort of all came together from there.” Seductive, cautionary and sweet, Ralph’s video for “Trouble” successfully meshes the likes of Thelma & Louise with the more contemporary Identity Thief. Before the video’s premiere, we spoke with Ralph about life before music and how she was able to draw inspiration from Britney Spears’ Crossroads. - Noisey

"RALPH"

Obsessed with platform shoes and facial glitter as a child, Toronto born and raised Raffa Weyman aka Ralph has always been intrigued by sounds and styles of the past. Striving to create songs her friends can dance to, the product is a marriage between disco, synth, smooth soul and sultry pop - think Sade meets Donna Summer meets Stevie Nicks. Although the tracks contain irresistible bass rhythms that make you move, the strong lyrics are also worth listening to, as Weyman is a stickler for songs with depth and meaning. After studying vocal performance at Etobicoke School of the Arts, Weyman was a member of several bands; most recently, the lead singer of the all-female folk band Queen of the Fleet. Within the realm of folk music, she learned the necessity of narrative and genuine emotion within song writing. Applying this concept to her new project, Ralph, Weyman has made sure to craft songs that contain catchy, playful melodies, while also tackling issues of jealousy, fear, deception, and lust. Her single 'Trouble', released through U.K. singles label Skeletory, will get stuck in your head for days and is the perfect road trip jam, along with its music video, directed by her brother Kit Knows. Ralph is releasing her next single for fall 2015, and her upcoming EP will be available spring 2016. When she's not writing hit tracks, Weyman enjoys pink bubble baths and Korean horror films. - Iceland Naturally

"Listen to Ralph's seductive debut track 'Trouble'"

Driven by Raffa Weyman's silky smooth vocals and a repetitive, chugging guitar line, 'Trouble' is a nostalgic, slick slice of summer pop.

What would a disco version of Beach House sound like? It's surely a question we've all asked and luckily Toronto quartet RALPH may have the answer.

The true success to 'Trouble' is the effortless fusion of danceable, disco-inspired instrumentation and the bitter-sweet pop sensibility that underpins the track. Driven by lead singer Raffa Weyman's silky smooth vocals and a repetitive, chugging guitar line 'Trouble' is a nostalgic, slick slice of summer pop. - the 405
