Songs from Utopia play music that will move you with its melancholy and passion. The band’s style has been described as indie folk, with English folk music as the main influence, but incorporating nuances from chanson and world music.
The band recently released their second album, see the stars. Recorded live using only analogue equipment, the album was co-produced by Mike Mariconda from Austin, Texas. An extraordinary musician in his own right, Mariconda is also a well-known producer, having worked on countless albums and with such successful bands as The Cosmic Psychos, The Devil Dogs and many others.
The raw Atlantic coast of Northern Spain proved to be the ideal location for the music, resulting in a romantic album full of passion and intensity. Whispers of the past from Nina Simone as well as Portuguese Fado float magically across the soundscape.
The album has become very popular in the Czech Republic, resulting in a recent tour during which the band, and appeared on the well-known TV show "Dobré ráno”. Their version of Nature Boy is also currently receiving airplay on New York’s cult indie radio station WFMU.
