I have been working with local playwright Tommy O'Malley for a year and a half now, and we are almost on stage!!! This is a review by a local blogger who came to see the show. Check it out! Thanks John.

You Better Work!
I had the privilege last night of attending a reading of a new musical that's been in the 'works' (pun intended - you'll get it in a minute) for about a year or so.
The name of the musical (for now) is 'It's Working' and it was written by Tommy O'Malley with music and lyrics by Sonia Carrion.

Now, I'm NOT going to write a review of a reading...can you say TACKY??? But I will say that there is a whole lot of really great stuff happening with this show. I laughed, I had fun, I 'went along for the ride' and above all I heard some really GREAT music.
Remember that title...."It's Working".

I met Tommy for the first time last night, but I've been reading his blog for a while now. His blog was the very first blog that I started reading regularly, and was one of the biggest reasons I started this blog.
So, all you faithful readers out there have Tommy to thank!
It was great to finally meet him and see that he was EXACTLY what I expected.
That's always nice. :-)

This is Tommy and Sonia....aren't they just adorable?!?!?

Sonia has an engaging style of her own that is addicting to the ear. "This Body" really makes me want to get up and do something with my life! What I like most about her songs is that her awe-inspiring lyrics tell stories that are relatable and they are complimented very nicely with her beautiful voice and catchy rhythms. - mattypooter

Bio

Sonia lives and breathes art and music. She moved to Boston in the fall 2007, when she was accepted to Berklee College of Music for Voice Performance. Leaving Austin, Texas was a hard decision for her, but.....something had to change. She needed more. She is a songwriter, composer, and engineer, loves the studio and the stage, loves folk music, and is in love with electronic music. She is currently working on promoting her solo EP: Growth Phase III. Riverman is currently being played on local stations, and sales have started coming in on iTunes.

As well as writing and performing live electronic music, Sonia is currently involved in the creation and production of a New Musical, to be set on stage by Fall '09. She is working with local playwright Tommy O'Malley, and together for a year and a half, they have been writing "It's Working: A New Musical." Composing for the stage is a totally new a fresh experience for her, and she hopes to continue down this road in the future.

And lastly, on whatever downtime she has, Sonia is also involved in the writing and creation of a New Reality TV show based around music and music production. She is working with local entertainment lawyer Jerry Neeff to get the pitch to producers and agents. She does not sleep, parties too much, and is having a ball in Boston Baby! Busy, busy, busy. But we only have one life.....right?!
