"100 Pound Sack of Dynamite"

"Sonia Leigh is a 100lb sack of dynamite whose songs explode with a voice that is equal parts pain and pleasure." - Brad Evans, Publisher of Georgia Music Magazine

"If you're NOT a fan of country-tinged, bluesy folk-rock from female singer-songwriters, stop reading now. If you can recognize talent in an artist like this and imagine all the incredible ways to market them, Sonia Leigh is worth a listen. She's 28, she's based in Atlanta, and we had a chance to catch her first ever Los Angeles performance a few weeks back -- super super good. Put this girl in front of KT Tunstall's fanbase...have her tour with Melissa Etheridge, hell, get her on a bill with a John Mayer or Ray LaMontagne and she'll win over all of their fans too! Check Sonia's MySpace page for gig listings and a couple of really well done songs."

Forever a booster of Atlanta music, Leslie Fram (former 99x music programmer) then introduced the assembled media, record label reps and listeners to her latest find: singer-songwriter Sonia Leigh.
The petite vocalist and guitarist, who has drawn comparisons to Janis Joplin and the Indigo Girls' Amy Ray, performed a spirited two-song set before bashfully thanking the crowd and departing the stage.
Fram, who is credited with helping to break numerous acts during her 99X tenure (including Shawn Mullins), sidled up to us and said of Leigh: "Her writing is amazing, and she has an incredible connection with her audience. She's got that 'it' factor you always look for in a performer."

"I have seen Sonia Leigh in all kinds of settings and she can do it all...Sonia Leigh very much ROCKS!!"
- DJ Matt Jones host of Organic X, WNNX 99X Everything Alternative, Atlanta, Georgia

"Raw, Honest and As Good As They Come"

"Sonia Leigh is as good a singer/songwriter as they come. Her music is both raw and honest, but definitely with her own sound."

- Brad Evans, Publisher of Georgia Music Magazine,

"Triple Threat, The Georgia Music Hall of Fame Songwriters Night"

“Sonia was a fascinating presence on the stage...Love that rakish fedora. Her voice recalled both Amy Ray and Joan Jett at times with a tinge of Hank Williams Sr. I really liked her song about ‘walking backwards at the wrong end of a gun’. Her lyrics and delivery were the high points of the performance for me. Sonia Leigh's 'Meet Me at the Bar', a song for 'the alt. country set', seemed familiar but not at all cliched. It was a beautiful evening. I hope the Music Hall arranges more stuff like this soon.” - Maggie Large, Entertainment Writer, The Telegraph, Macon, Georgia, Amped blog

"Best Emerging Artist 2006"

"Sonia Leigh's stage presence is amazing, her voice is amazing, and her music is inspirational. This girl is the best folk/rock artist in Hotlanta. Sonia Leigh is at the top of the list of Best Emerging Artist of 2006." - Mike Kraft, Mammoth Press

"Sonia Leigh Destined for Fame"

Emergenza Acoustic Hero Competition Atlanta 2006 Audience Award
"If this woman is not destined for fame, I don't know who is. Her songwriting was astounding and her guitar abilities just as mature. She had some of the strongest vocals and lyrics I have ever heard and the audience was dumbfounded as she sang of love, life and strife. Sonia was so popular among the audience that she gained enough votes to take home the Audience Award and the Takamine guitar. Well-done Sonia, you deserve it!" - Sophie Creole, Emergenza Acoustic Hero Competition 2006,

"Atlanta: The Next Hotbed of Indie Music"

"I stayed in Atlanta instead of moving to NYC because of bands like Trances Arc or Modern Skirts & Singer/Songwriter Sonia Leigh. The music was just too good to leave and not support." - WNYC Public Radio Soundcheck Interview with Lauren Aparicio, A.K.A. DJ L,

""Sonia Leigh is a phenomenal talent!""

Sonia, who has to date made big waves in a little pond is on the verge of creating a name for herself and has opened for acts as Cory Smith and Tisha mingo.Voted the best folk/ rock artist in Hotlanta by Mammoth Press, Sonia is on the verge of breaking out nationally. Having seen her perform before, I can only say this is a show you seriously don’t want to miss.
In this writers opinion, Sonia Leigh is a phenomenal talent.
