"Can't Get Enough Of"

"Love Is The Reason. Sonia Moree sounds raw, like a blues belter or gospel singer doing a southern soul song, in a rare reversal of what usually happens, it comes out sounding like southern soul. A fascinating combination..." - Daddy B Nice

"Sonia Moree"

"New southern R&B Diva, lots of down home blues 'n soul, young Denise LaSalle type..." - Soul Clinic

Bio

Sonia Moree
"The Sassy Soul & Blues Diva"

…is a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and entrepreneur. But a more vivid description of her would be "raw energy, smooth to heart-wrenching vocals, slick patter and excitement." This native of Atlanta, Georgia was born into a family of preachers, musicians and singers. She was already being primed for public performance by the tender age of five, singing in the family church choir and performing piano recitals.

Sonia participated in the orchestra, band, and/or chorus, throughout her school days, and sang with girl groups. While attending Clark College in Atlanta, she organized a sister act and started performing around campus. After fronting and traveling with professional bands on the college, corporate, and chitlin' circuits, she became manager of the former EJ's Showplace of Atlanta, Georgia. The demands of managing a nightclub, however, confined her to performing intermittently at the workplace. Subsequently, she established her own act, Sonia Moree & The Eastside Players, and took her show on the road in the south. The show eventually became a staple at the former Thomas Seafood Restaurant in Atlanta. It was during this time that Sonia wrote and produced her first EP, Roadway to the Blues. She also spent three years as owner of a partnered restaurant/lounge in Talbotton, Georgia, Koko's Cafe.

Sonia Moree was nominated by the JusBluesMusic Foundation as 2011 Southern Soul Female Artist of the Year, and as Best New Southern Soul Female Artist Performance for the song she wrote, Love Is The Reason, co-produced by bluesman, Theodis Ealey. Her CD, A Thrill Still, is a product of her indie label, BlueSpice Records, and a collaborative effort with IFGAM Records.

Sonia’s influences include Koko Taylor, Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, Etta James, Phylls Hyman, and Denise LaSalle . She has performed for clubs, parties, corporate events, concerts, festivals, receptions and family reunions. She has also shared stages with artists such as, Sandra Hall, Willie Hill, Theodis and others.

Sonia now boasts 30+ years of performing experience. She typically carries a 4-5 piece band and 1-2 background singers. She is also equipped to perform track shows that include 2 background singers . Covers from her repertoire may range anywhere from the likes of Koko Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Al Green or the Staple Singers, to Sade, the Pointer Sisters, Motown and her originals. Dressed to impress, her mission is to deliver unforgettable entertainment and thoroughly engage her audience in the process.
