Bio
Sonia Inez Wilson (A.K.A. Nia Starr) was born in The Bronx, New York on July, 5th.
During her elementary years Nia started to write Christian Poetry which later developed into other styles of writing.
By her teen years, Nia broke away from her shyness and was ready to explore other facets of her creativity. Performing in Church Plays sparking a friendship with the stage, it was only a matter of time that this 17 year old 5’9" at 110lbs. young Lady would take on another opportunity that fell onto her lap, as a Runway Model for a New York City Designer.
Nia resigned from Modeling to further her Education in Communications by going away to College in New Hampshire. After spending time away from home Nia returned and took employment as a Production Assistant for a well known University in Manhattan.
In July of 1991, Nia relocated to join her Mother in Georgia after the birth of her baby Sister, where she formed the Female Quartet "Nexx Levell" the groups members were Rita Ann Doddson, Satarah Radford, Jamie Skyler, and Nia Starr. Theses four talented women worked with R & B Producer " Reggie". After a 2 year run, Nexx Levell parted ways.
Now back in the North East Nia has come full circle, back to her roots of writing. With life experiences, a bit of maturity and her New York wit Nia has become a Lyricist with the ability to create imagery through her words while keeping an edge on Urban Christian, Pop, R & B lyrics.
In her own words "I guess one would say I’m eclectic. I think it’s reflection of the many types of music I’ve been exposed to. Be it playful, serious, etc… I write what ever I feel or see. You know what comes from living day to day. I just want to be able to keep it real. This is what I want to do in life - write".
Currently Nia has been Co-writing with other Lyricists, and Musicians. She even has a Children’s Book in the making with a fellow writer.
Nia received an Award from The International Library of Poetry in 2003 as the Editor’s Choice Poem of the Year titled "To Be In Love".
