SONIDO CACHIMBO

Sonido Cachimbo is a music group from the Ciudad Juárez/El Paso border, that was born in late 2010, influenced by Latin rhythms with highlights in Colombian Cumbia, Vallenato, Porro, Merengue, among other Caribbean rhythms. This is a proposal full of dancing, celebration but at the same time meditating about specific issues of its border city, their country and Latin America. At the sound of Tropi Cumbia Fronteriza, Sonido Cachimbo tries to bring its music proposal to any place where music can create a community feeling, from a square, a plaza, a district, a theater, an auditorium, a market, or even a bar. Because they bring the party through their music and social message towards social equality, racial and gender inclusion, as well as respect for human life and dignity.
Mixes of tropical and Caribbean rhythms like cumbia, reggae, merengue, salsa and others, as well as rock, ska and punk, to mention a few, always waving proudly the Juárez border flag. These roots is what gives influence to the lyrics and music of Sonido Cachimbo, telling the border way of life and the Social issues that take place in this region and are shared with the violent globalized cities throughout Latin America, without ignoring nor forgetting all the good things and virtues of their people. The music-turning of this diverse context is what they call "TROPI CUMBIA FRONTERIZA.”

Since 2013 Sonido Cachimbo has made its way in multiple venues throughout Mexico and the US, performing in three editions of one of the most important cultural festivals in northern Mexico (Chihuahua´s International Festival 2011-2014), the old Salón México in Mexico City, and also having presence in different stages throughout 5 states of the México–US border region combined.
In 2014, the band released its first album produced in a totally independent effort and without record label. Titled ¨Tropicumbia Fronteriza¨, achieving to be played in different latitudes. In 2015 started to perform in high profile events, taking its musical proposal to the production of a complete live show.
Sonido Cachimbo has shared stage with several prestigious bands like Panteón Rococó, La Santa Cecilia, Nortec Colective, Señor Bikini, Armando Palomas, La Sonora Santanera, Afrodita, among others.
