Life and love ain't easy, precisely why Sonni's music is so hard. Any woman ever heartbroken is sure feel Sonni on "Time To Move On" but better not get too comfortable before "It's OK (he's right here with me)." The radio hits Good Bye and "Service Interrupted" exposes a soft and vulnerable side ("I am wasted away, too young to be grey, I've always been afraid..."), but it's nowhere to be found again beneath the rugged riffs of "Do What I Wanna Do" ("My life, my choice, my voice, what I say goes...")
Sonni is just 23, but her music roots go way back. She was born and raised in Philly the soul music capitol of the world. Now she resides in Atlanta, GA, the mecca of R&B. She's been singing, acting, and dancing professionally since she was 8 years old. And though "Sonni's Interview" is her debut release, she has put in work for years. You've heard her sultry vocals on tracks before, to name a few, she is the background vocal of Eve's "Eveolution" (Columbia), Kindred's "The Family Soul" (Hidden Beach/Epic) and Whitney Houston's "Just Whitney" (Arista).
Sonni's beats are from the heart, literally. Her brand of R&B is borderline funk, yet a new kind of funk perfect for today's funky styles, funky relationships, funky attitudes! Attitude is Sonni all the way, but don't mistake that for negativity, she definitely delivers a refreshing dose of 'feel good music.' The title track itself has such a classic summertime vibe you'll be playing it over and over every summer to come.
