A typical comment I get at my gigs is, "that's quite a mixture of songs you have there". I grew up listening to Top 40 radio mostly so that's my influence, variety. I like songs that have a sensible message and clear cut arrangements with contrast, you know the standards. Although there are many acoustic artists that can play almost any request you can throw at them, and God bless them for that, I tend to spend more time putting those familiar passages in either on guitar or harmonica to make my renditions close to the original tune. I do more than just strum the guitar, I started out taking lessons in a private studio and later college courses. I arrange my selected songs using chord melodies, bass lines and harmonic progressions. Add the harmonica to that and you have a lot of interest in a "one man band", speaking of which I do not use artificial sounds of any kind, no drum machines or synthesizers, it's strictly acoustic.
