Sonny Rolfe

BandPop

My ideas of my world, my life, the lives of those I've known, my war as a kid, my love of Australia, my love, some rock, some blues, some country, our trees,my fantasies, some things I can sing but not say. Songs of comedians & of drug addicts, nothing heavy, mostly easy listening (20+ awards)

Biography

To describe one's own music would be one-sided and not mean a lot - I don't think my songwriting is of any particular genre. I can say that most people who hear it find a song that relates to their own life, lots say it's real life - some say the tears try to flow. My influences can only be the music from the last 74 years - and I hope some of the joy shows through!

Swinging On A Gate

Written By: Sonny Rolfe

SWINGING ON A GATE
Swinging on a gate is so relaxing
Rusty hinges playing with my mind
A hundred times the folks have asked me not to
A better mode of travel hard to find

**CH** I could spend my life just swinging on a gate
Push it hard and fly won't have to wait
Hang in the middle and dream -
Work on what the answers to questions mean
All day ticket for nothing swinging on a gate
All day ticket for nothing swinging on a gate **

Cracked earth below can be the mountains
Petals from a flower becomes the snow
Squeaking from the hinge is just the engine
I can think of anywhere and off I go

**Chorus**

Last one to see whoever's leaving
First one to greet our friends hello
Mother calling out the sun is falling
Tomorrow squeaky gate where shall we go

**Chorus**

Whisky And Me

Written By: Sonny Rolfe

WHISKY AND ME

Have you something to say - can I sing it for you
If you give me the words, I can sing it OK
Have you something to say or would you rather sit with me
In the coolness of night drinking whisky.
Drink whisky with me, you'll never be lonely
We'll keep you warm, whisky and me.

Have you something to write - can I write it for you
If you give me the words, I can write it OK
Have you something to write or would you rather sit with me
In the coolness of night drinking whisky.
Drink whisky with me, you'll never be lonely
We'll keep you warm, whisky and me

Have you someone to love - can I be your lover
You want some love, could you love me
D'you want some one to love or would you rather sit with me
In the coolness of night drinking whisky
Drink whisky with me, you'll never be lonely
We'll keep you warm, whisky and me

Have you something to say - can I sing it for you
If you give me the words, I can sing it OK
Have you something to say or would you rather sit with me
In the coolness of night drinking whisky.
Drink whisky with me, you'll never be lonely
We'll keep you warm, whisky and me

Drink whisky with me, you'll never be lonely
We'll keep you warm, whisky and me
