Bio
SONOMA SOUND is a Philly based band that features
the talents of six musicians. They are Will Paynter on
vocals & acoustic bass, Jay Popky on vocals & guitar, Paul Downie on vocals & drums, Dean Sophocles on piano/organ,
Jake L'Armand on violin and Robert Veith on 5 string
electric bass. Together, their eclectic performance sung in
English and Spanish consists of conscious lyrics over steady rhythms with wandering melodic solos. If you can imagine the Grateful Dead meets Buena Vista Social Club topped off with some Roots Reggae beats, then you will get the picture.
Their show consists of some classic and or obscure covers done SONOMA style and many thought provoking original compositions. It is music quite unlike anything you have heard before.
Their new CD "Skin & Bone" takes the listener on a musical
journey through their original music set to blues, jazz, folk,
reggae and Latin rhythms. This CD was officially released on May 11th in Philadelphia, with a CD release party held at the nationally recognized music venue, the Tin Angel. SONOMA SOUND is booking summer shows in support of their new CD.
