Their music is as eclectic as eclectic rock can be, ranging from soft-spoken ‘pretty’ songs to eardrum pounding rock action and virtually everything in between. Early listeners have compared their music to Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Tom Waits as well as Nick Cave.

Biography

Sonora Desert is an alternative rock band founded by singer/songwriter Bart Gooren (1979) after his previous band, the innovative nu-metal formation Dreadlock Pussy broke up. This time, he wanted to do everything by himself and started writing. After a couple of years of conceptualizing and writing he decided he needed to bring other musicians into the mix. Since he didn’t want to be yet another singer/songwriter, plus the songs he was coming up with were far too elaborate for just one man to perform. Also – being a former metal guitarist – he loves rocking it out on stage.

The search for band mates and a place to record and rehearse really took off when he met bass player and fixer Pat (1970). Together they build their own recording studio in an old cold war bomb shelter under a bridge in the red light district of Utrecht (the Netherlands). Soon drummer Nathan (1987), guitarist Nuri (1988) and singer/percussionist Eva (1978) joined their cause.

In August 2011 their first communiqué to the outside world was released on the Internet. This six-song demo contains the first of eighteen songs to be released as an album sometime in the near future.
