D'Zin'r Original 2007

Feeling a bit camera shy

Fulfilling her destiny and leaving a legacy are two
of the things that drive Sonya Knight. This talented
singer/songwriter was born in Raleigh, NC and
raised in Atlanta, GA. She has been blessed with a
gift to encourage and bring hope to anyone who
needs it. Her music is a reflection of this.

In April 2007, in conjunction with Paul Anderson and
Profusic Productions, Sonya released her debut album,
D’Zin’R Original (Designer Original). This album is the
beginning of a movement to encourage unity, authenticity, and
an appreciation of uniqueness within the Body of Christ.
“Gone are the days of looking at the outside of a person and judging,
when God is looking at the heart”, says Sonya. “If we have the mind
of Christ, as believers, how can we continue being divided and
superficial?” These questions and concerns were the impetus for songs like “Unity Chant”, “Speak Life”, and “D’Zin’R Original” (the album’s title track).

Prior to the recording of her album, Sonya sang background for a variety of artists including Darwin Hobbs, Kelly Price, Kandi (former member of Xscape), Chante Moore, Faith Evans, Darlene McCoy, Christopher Lewis, Sha’ Simpson, and Candi Staton. She’s written songs for Sha’ Simpson, Alyson Williams, Tony Terry, and the musical stage play "The Women". Sonya is excited about the release of her debut album and it’s her prayer that D’Zin’R Original will be used to draw people closer to God and to one another.
