Sootara

Sootara

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

Sootara expresses her all original music of the heart, through a beautiful, powerfully captivating voice, with an unusually wide range, through songs ranging in style from rock to folk, always with strong, memorable melodies and lyrics that encourage listeners to view life in a powerful new way.

Biography

Sootara is a singer and songwriter with a unique way of writing and viewing the world. She does not write using an instrument, rather the songs come to her and she records them and works with them in this way, allowing them to finish themselves. She generally avoids listening to other peoples' music, so that what comes through to her is unique and new.

Her new debut CD, Allies of the Heart, is immensly musical, inspiring and uplifting. Sootara sought out Joe Puerta of Ambrosia and Bruce Hornsby and the Range fame, to produce her album. Having just finished the album in early 2008, Joe says of it, "it is quite a statement of artistic and spiritual committment and beauty". Early reactions are extremely positive. From Trevor Sadler, Masterworks, "I think the album is sounding AWESOME!!! Thank you for having me work on it."

As a performer, Sootara evokes pin-drop silence and rapt attention.

Miracle

Written By: Sootara

I hear you’re looking for a miracle
And that you want to see some change
I hear you’re looking for an open door
You want to leave behind the pain

Go through, head held high
It’s for you, don’t question why

Why aren’t you looking for a miracle
Have you given up the faith
Crazy thing about miracles
They’re really something you create

Why not you, why not me
Heal yourself, and you will see

We’ve all been trained that making miracles
Is just a power of the few
Raise your life vibe and those powers
Can belong to everyone, that’s you

Open wide your heart’s eye
Dare to dream, dare to fly

When you truly want to bless the world
With what you really came to do
Then you’ll find that making miracles
It just comes natural to you

All the Great ones taught this truth
What they can do, you can too

Why aren’t you looking for a miracle?

Rain on Me

Written By: Sootara

Have you noticed how you blame me?
Have you noticed how you make me wrong?
All you try to do is keep me down
But what you’ve really done is make me strong

So rain on me
If you think it’ll heal you
Rain on me
If you think it’ll help
I’ll send my love to you
‘Cause what else can I do?

I am strong and I will carry on
Nothing you can say or do can harm me
So rain on me

Ya, for sure it used to hurt me
Sometime I thought I wouldn’t make it through
But now I’ve learned to make a different choice
It only hurts if I allow it to

So rain on me
If you think it’ll heal you
Rain on me
If you think it’ll help
I’ll send my love to you
‘Cause what else can I do?

I am strong and I will carry on
Nothing you can say or do can harm me anymore
So rain on me.

Morning Girl

Written By: Sootara

Morning girl, it’s time to wake up now
The world is waiting, and it’s new
Shake off the sleep that kept you from making
All your secret dreams come true

Morning girl, you’re here for a reason
And your dreams will give the clue
Your heart will guide you through all seasons
To what you’re really here to do

So wake up, get up you sleepy head
Come on, come on get up out of bed
Dreams are not for just sleeping
A dream is a promise you’re keeping
So wake up, get up and make it come true
The whole world is waiting for you

Morning girl, didn’t they tell you
You have great power and magic too
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been sleeping
Let go the past and trust in you

Who told you you had to keep sleeping
And what to think and what to do
They feared your power, but now the world is needing
The dreams you’ve been dreaming to come true

So wake up, get up you sleepy head
Come on, come on get up out of bed
Dreams are not for just sleeping
A dream is a promise you’re keeping
So wake up, get up and make it come true
The whole world is waiting for you

Prayer to Sun

Written By: Sootara

I choose you
I know you are the one
Always true
You’ll be my only one
Now it’s done
Face the Sun

Me for you
I’ll be your only one
Always true
You know I am the one
Day is done
Prayer to Sun

Sometimes life can be so clear
And I know why I am here
And through it all I find
My world is soft and kind

River Moon
Help my heart to be strong
In this world
Where it’s hard to belong
Come along
Sing my song

It’s as if I somehow know
And I’m sure which way to go
And when I cannot see
I learn to trust in me

Sun and moon
Male and female above
Shining down
Smile on our earthly love
Now we’re one
Prayer to Sun

Now it’s done
Prayer to Sun

River Song

Written By: Sootara

Well the wind it softly blows
And the river paints a fairy tale
In blue, for you

And the sunshine warmly glows
And the birds dance on the river waves
So free, you and me

How do you catch the wind
No one’s ever known
What do you find when you reach the end
Depends on what you’ve chosen

If I could show you all
That’s in my heart and how I feel
You’d see, you’re just like me

And when all the people see
That in heart we’re all in harmony
A world of Peace will simply be

But how do we catch the wind
They say no one’s ever known
What will we all find when we reach the end
(Well) that depends on what we’ve chosen

And is there an end? No there’s really no end
Let’s be wise in what we’re choosing
Are you wise in what you’re choosing?

Trouble on the Bayou

Written By: Sootara

Refrain:
Oh, me oh my-oh, there’s trouble on the Bayou
It’s time to believe in what you know to be true
Not what they’re whispering that they want from you

Oh, me oh my-oh, there’s trouble on the Bayou
Verse 1:
Ask yourself this question and answer it true
Does that thought you’re thinking really belong to you?
What if what you feel is someone else’s plan
Do you march with your spirit
Or the drums of man?
Chorus:
Heal yourself
That’s the answer
Then watch
Your world turn around

This can never fail
‘Cause help is with you
Universal Light
Will never let you down.
Oh, me oh my-oh, there’s trouble on the Bayou
Verse 2:
Are there secrets told
Behind the closed doors
They pull the string
And you forget
What you came here for

Why do you believe
That we must all be the same?
How can anyone gain
From a world in pain?

Chorus:
Heal yourself
That’s the answer
Then watch
Your world turn around

This can never fail
‘Cause help is with you
Universal Light
Will never let you down.
Oh, me oh my-oh, there’s trouble on the Bayou
Verse 3:
What if the world around you
Is all just a show
Tailor-made to keep
Your vibration low?

If everyone became
All that they can become
What a threat it would be
To how this world is run
Chorus:
Heal yourself
That’s the answer
Then watch
Your world turn around

This can never fail
‘Cause help is with you
Universal Light
Will never let you down
Refrain:
Oh, me oh my-oh, there’s trouble on the Bayou
It’s time to believe in what you know to be true
Not what they’re whispering that they want from you
It’s time to believe in what you know to be true
Ah - ooo
