Bio
Sophie is a Quebec born composer and vocalist who, as a young musician in Montreal, had her vocal talents quickly discovered in the pure French chanson tradition. She went on to win major music festivals such as Petite valée that brought her to tour in Europe, subsequently sharing the stage with many great musicians and performing a direct tribute concert for influential artist Joni Mitchell.
Following her encounter with Joni Mitchell, Sophie's music took a turn for the creative, and finally her personal style demonstrated something the world has never seen before: Sophie's first francophone album, "A fleur d'eau" (2007), being named one of the most promising independent releases of the year, gathering a large personnel of cherished Canadian artists such as Fredric Gary Comeau, Monique Fauteux (Harmonium), Simon Angell (Patrick Watson), Henri Chassé, Baptiste, Stéphanie Laliberté, Pierre Bédard and Kweku. The project even caught the attention of widely respected producing mixing engineer George Massenburg (Frank Sinatra, Earth Wind & Fire, Phil Collins, Bonnie Rait, etc) who subsequently joined in the project as a mixing engineer.
To truly appreicate Sophie Tremblay is to listen her CD or better yet witness a performance - as words quite simply do her no justice.
