"HANGING WITH TENACIOUS D"

The School of Rock Charlotte crew recently go an experience of a lifetime.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass, of Tenacious D, allowed the crew to sit on their soundcheck before their show in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 26th.

Not only did the band let the kids watch as they warmed up, but they hooked them up with signed albums, pics and tickets to the (sold out) show.

"School of Rockers Open up for Paul Simon and Dave Matthews"

Over the holiday weekend, the city of Greenwich, Connecticut held their Town Party at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park. Before Paul Simon took to the stage and Dave Matthews surpirsed the thousands of fans, a group of School of Rock kids showed the Memorial Day crowd their skills.

Asked how they felt about performing before both artists, the kids responded, "You feel so successful," said Sara Keden, an Easton resident and 15-year-old bassist with School of Rock. Jeremy Staffa, a Westport resident and 16-year-old guitarist, agreed with Sara. "To even be part of the same musical festival of Paul Simon is an honor," he said. - Greenwich Times

ABOUT US

The School of Rock, the original school of rock founded in Philadelphia in 1998, has now grown to 80+ locations nationwide, including three in the Washington DC area (Ashburn, VA, Silver Spring, MD and Vienna, VA). Paul Green, the inspiration for the Jack Black character in Paramount's hit movie "School of Rock", created the school to help our students realize their potential as artists, to put them on stage in front of as many people as possible and to help foster a new generation of incredible musicians. OUR PERFORMERS

We have hundreds of students, aged 8 to 17, in our Washington area schools. From these we pick the cream of the crop to create a touring unit - our house band. In addition to the regular shows performed by all students, our house band plays in festivals, special events and as openers for larger acts.

OUR MUSIC

We play classic rock covers in all rock genres. We customize our shows as needed for the event, but typically play one or two sets of 45-60 minutes each.

AUDIENCE REACTION

Who doesn't love to see kids playing their favorite classic rock hits? We connect with people young and old, and never fail to put a smile on the faces of the audience. We're a great warm-up act for your headliner, and we'll try not to outdo them too badly.

REQUIREMENTS

We bring our own instruments and typically supply the backline amplifiers and drum kit. We look to the event to provide the sound system and engineer. Our typical setup is 3 guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and 3 vocal mics. If timing between bands is tight, we can use the backline setup for another band. Download our stage plot to see our typical stage setup and sound support requirements.
