Bio

Soul Box is a band with chemistry. All the members lock in together effortlessly and that kind of connection draws the audience in and makes them a part of it. Songs are always evolving and chan BBCnp ng every performance, the band just y they p) were playing in a previous band together. Both George and Matt musically connected instantly. However, that connection did not spread throughout  the rest of the project. George and Matt left that band, looking to move in a different direction. A few weeks later, while out and about on the local scene, Matt bumped into Gregg Miller, an old pick up gig comrade from many years prior. Matt and Gregg were never officially in a band together, but played many gigs together as hired guns. The two always had a good musical connection on stage. Gregg told Matt he was fronting a trio called The Gregg Miller Group (Gregg Miller/guitar, Rob Megna/Drums, and Paul Chase/Bass). In their conversation Gregg mentioned that he wanted to focus more on guitar and not singing. The light bulb went off in Matt’s head. Greggs trio was Bass, Drums, and guitar and Matt and George were lead vocals and keys, it’s as if the universe had the plan for Matt and Gregg to meet all along. The first time Soul Box ever played a note together was at a jam hosted by Gregg’s trio. From the first note the ensemble commanded the attention of the audience. Both the band and the audience knew instantly that something special was going on. These 5 guys had a deep musical connection, and it was evident from the get go.

About 3-4 years in, Paul Chase (the bassist) left Soul Box, just life and stuff. Soul Box and Paul are still in touch and remain great friends.

It Didn’t take Soul Box long to find Ric Naistadt, the current bassist. Ric’s style, however different from Paul’s, blended right in instantly, and that 5 man connection never broke with the transition. It was a match. Soul Box considers themselves a blessed band to have that connection. They know from years of experience, that connection is extremely rare. There is no one man, no egos. Just 5 guys that have the same approach to music, and that connection definitely gets picked up by their audience.

Soul Box has been playing In the local scene for about 7 years and looking to spread it out to a more regional and national audience. They have amassed quite the following in the process. Their religious crowd has self named itself the “Soul Tribe”. A Soul Box show is not a band and an audience, it’s just one mass celebration of life, music, and dance. The connection is infectious. Soul Box are the current winners of the 2018 Boston Blues Society’s Blues Challenge and went to Memphis TN. to represent Boston in the International Blues Challenge, where they made it all the way to the semi finals. They had 60-80 of their “Soul Tribe” travel down to Memphis to support them. They definitely garnered a lot of attention down in Memphis, and kicked open some doors. So much so that they are looking to spread it out off the South Shore of Massachusetts, and hopefully start gaining a more regional and national audience. Why not right ?? The world belongs to those who’ll have it.
