Soul Music Ministry

SOUL:
Alex Castillo and Stephen Jeffrey started Soul Music Ministries in 2004 out of a heart cry for the lost and a passion to fulfill the great commission. We decided to just start meeting periodically at Alex’s house in Savannah, GA to jam and challenge one another to advance in our musical gifts. During the first few meetings, God ignited a vision in us to go ahead and reach beyond ourselves. Since that day, “reaching the heart of man with our song” has been our mission statement. It’s what drives our journey – our calling - to the mission field all around us. Our heart is to go to the places where the lost are, rather than waiting on them to come to us. The scriptures tell us it’s the sick who need a doctor, not the well, so we made a commitment that we would go…go to the sick…go to the poor…go to the lost. We began playing at various venues including local coffee shops, community festivals, charity fundraisers, outreach and church events in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, and we never stopped. We find that everything within us must keep pressing into this calling. Music has always been an avenue to man’s soul, and creating music has always been our passion. It’s the gift God’s given us to connect with the world…to reach the soul of every man. Our songs and lyrics are real - real life confronting real Truth. We unashamedly sing about our shortcomings, failures, frustrations, experiences - good and bad, triumphs and disappointments, and how God’s eternal promise of hope and love carries us through them all. If we can help just one person grasp the reality of that promise for themselves, then this journey of ours has accomplished its purpose.

No matter where this musical journey takes them, Alex and Stephen will always hold their wives and families in highest regard, knowing that their strong support, prayers and involvement in the heart and vision of this band is what keeps them going.
