"Jazz Festival Preview"

“Imagine a pair of crooning vocalists, supported by professionally adept guitars and a keyboardist whose improvisations slam you back to the Summer of Love. Surround these musicians with a pair of percussionists, back the whole with the astonishing Brass Knuckles horn section, and then bring on the man, Mr. Soulpie himself, and you’ve got yourself some wholehearted, soul-stirring, eminently danceable music.”

"The Oregon Coast Music Association - Soulpie rocks Shore Acres"

“The Oregon Coast Music Association rocked Shore Acres with a free concert from Soulpie. This large ensemble turned a foggy afternoon into a sun drenched party with a variety of memories made into music. . . .this sound was made for dancing. . . Shore Acres created a space meant for fun; the kids chased bubbles, the adults captured memories, and there was grass dancing the likes of which haven't been seen since Woodstock. Okay, some of the dancers hid behind the shrubs but their spirits were free.”

"Oregon Coast Music Festival in Full Swing"

“The Oregon Coast Music Festival is one of the most prominent tourist attractions here on the Southern Oregon Coast. The 31st Annual Summer Festival is in full swing. Thursday, July 22nd, you can catch some great local talent at the Mill Casino's Salmon Room, on Coos Bay. This show features Soulpie with the Oregon Coast Lab Band's Evolution as the opening act.
What makes this show unique is the fact that both of these bands are comparable to the size of a small orchestra and each highlights a full horn section. Souplie's roster is currently at 13 members while Evolution runs at a typical membership of 20 musicians. These groups are large in number as well as performance but are not your basic background bar music. . .If you have not had this experience, don't miss the chance on this one!”

Soulpie - House of Blue Lights

Bio

Soulpie began as an idea and a show concept, fueled by the love of the music and live performance. Beginning with the nucleus of Mr. Soulpie and the Prime and Rhythm section, Soulpie attracted the members of the Brass Knuckles horn section, and shortly after filled out the show concept with the addition of the Sisters Soulpie.

Soulpie debuted with its first public performance at the South Coast Clambake Jazz festival instantly creating double takes, and a buzz about something new and different from “the average local band.”

Soulpie's sound is a synthesis of American musical traditions from the clean, precise, jazz-influenced sounds of New York City to the gritty soul and blues of Chicago and Memphis, and the San Francisco fusions of soul, funk, and R&B. The infectious groove of the Soulpie Prime and Rhythm section, and the riveting force and authority of the Brass Knuckles horn section combine with the provocative and soulful vocal harmonies of the Sisters Soulpie and the undeniable presence of Mr.Soulpie.

This crowd-pleasing favorite of the south coast creates an energetic atmosphere of synchronicity with their audience. Immediate signs of the Soulpie experience include, but are not limited to, a strong urge to dance, tap feet, or snap fingers. Lingering effects typically include an overall feeling of euphoria and well-being, often from audience participation, pleasurable dancing, and the experience of real, live music performed by real musicians without the use of digitized sequencers, drum machines, or auto-pitched vocal enhancers. Soulpie is the real thing!

The buzz that began when Soulpie burst onto the local scene in 2008 has been spreading throughout the region and spilling across the borders since the release of their new CD, House of Blue Lights. “Every performance is unique because every audience is unique; they bring a different perspective and interaction with us each time,” says Mr.Soulpie. “With every new audience we make new friends, and share the Soulpie experience.” Currently, Soulpie is in the planning stages of their next CD project while setting their sights on new and exciting endeavors.

They’re distinctive. They’re entertaining, and they’re ready to serve you a hot slice o’ Soulpie!
