"Rock City"

"The band of the night is up and I am as excited as a klepto in a jewelry store. Imagine if you would take Black Eyed Peas, Santana, a pinch of Stevie Wonder, and of course they're own juices and put it in a blender, bam..high speed... and presto Soul Scribes. Brother and sister team of Sal and Marissa Lopez lead this all star cast of musicians. They have harmonies so sweet I will be seeing the dentist for sure this week.
With more hooks than a tackle box and grooves for days this band is accelerating past any in their way towards stardom. The crowd looks like a sea of perpetual motion as they dance to the beats. Sal plays GIANT ROCK leads over super sexy rhythms that will stick in your head like the memory of your first love. This is a must see band that deserves immediate attention" - JD - In the Streets

Bio

Brother and sister trio Sal, Justin and Marissa Lopez form the foundation of the group, along with drummer Todd Nosek, DJ Earl-e on turntables, and Hop on bass. Their original songs move seamlessly from reggae groove to hip-hop funk, with catchy melodic hooks and shining guitar riffs. All their music is uplifting with a positive message, and it rocks the spot every time.
Marissa shines on lead vocals, and her energy and smile is infectious. Sal brings years of performing experience with a Fender Strat (Frequency 5, Mindshift), while Justin adds style with rhythm guitar, rapping, and saxophone. Todd is a true rock 'n' roll drummer with mad skills and intensity. Hop rocks the bass like he rocks the mustache, with fervor and style. Last, on the Wheels of Steel is DJ Earl-e, bringing old skool flavor with slick scratches and beats in the mix (and a little blues harp too).

Blending the sounds found in the urban paradises from San Diego to Santa Cruz to San Francisco, Soul Scribes represents the Cali style. From the ocean surf, to the click of skateboards on concrete...from the High Sierras to the high desert. Bass bumping from trunks with hip-hop... and Mariachi thumpin' on the next block. Rastas selling incense on the corner and hippies playing guitar on the boardwalk. Mohawks on Sunset and a sunset in Malibu. Lovin' every minute of it... and representing truth, respect for all cultures, and peace. Soul Scribes appeals to a diverse audience with the belief that great music with a positive spirit can move anybody onto the dance floor.

Roots, Rock, DJ. West Coast Roots. SoCal Funk.
The "West Coast Roots" sound is something that could only come from a place as original and diverse as California. When Rock and Roll invaded the West Coast in the 50's, it collided head-on with the already established Jazz scene's Latin flavor, and from this collision was born the music of the 60's surf culture. Surfing forever linked SoCal to the South Pacific (especially Hawaii), and subsequently to beaches all over the world. The chilled-out vibe of Reggae was a natural draw for those immersed in the surf/skate/hippie California lifestyle and was easily adopted. All of this mixed in with the slick glam of Hollywood, the explosion of hip-hop in the 80's, and the anarchistic attitude of the underground punk/hardcore/ska scene gave rise to genre-bending L.A. bands such as Fishbone, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime and No Doubt. This is "West Coast Roots." Not just a blend of styles, but the undeniably unique sound of California.

The group has been playing live in the Los Angeles area since early 2006. They released their first album, Noisemaking 101, in March of 2008. They are currently booking shows in and outside of L.A.
