Bio

The story of Soulsik begins in the summer of 2009. Three months of rehearsing and writing brought forth a short list of powerful, heavy, and straight-to-the-point songs! Soulsik's official debut show was November 24, 2009 at the Rock House with good friends I-Exist and Presomnia. A four-piece outfit at the tme, Soulsik didn't have a full-time bassist and was playing with a fill-in, but totally blew the crowd away with a meager, yet explosive five-song set.

January of 2010 saw the attaining of Tim Barrie as the full-time bassist. From that point came a string of crucial shows, playing with national recording artists Five Finger Death Punch, Taproot, Flaw, Parabelle, Dirge Within, as well as regional touring bands XFactor1 (OH), Pulse8 (KY), Saturate (TX), Inimical Drive (MO), Curse Icon (OH), Krimsha (Ft. Wayne, IN), and more. Not to mention, the endless amounts of fellow local bands!

February of 2011 saw the addition of Derek Ware (ex-Broken Equilibrium) as a second guitarist. With the addition of Derek, the music gained an immense amount of depth and diversity.

After nearly a year of recording, Soulsik finally released their debut EP, entitled 'Searching For A Cure', to critical acclaim. 'Masquerade', the lead song off the disc, has gotten some radio airplay at X103, alongside the song that caught the eye of the local crowd in Indy, 'Wrath'. Along the way, Soulsik has had the luxury of playing in several towns and states across the region.

September of 2011 saw the departure of original drummer, RJ. Up until November, Soulsik continued on, playing with a fill-in, until John Alexander was officially welcomed as the full-time drummer. John has added a sound to Soulsik that has never been heard before, being such a diverse and talented drummer.

In June 2013, Soulsik returned to the local music scene after taking an ample amount of time to write and record their new album, Apparitions, which, thus far, has been the recipient of rave reviews throughout. Subsequently, the return also saw the departure of John Alexander as their drummer. Unwavered by the minor set back, they quickly filled the void left by John by adding Bryan Kattau (ex-Broken Equilibrium) to the fold, gelling the rest of the group almost immediately.

With everything set in place, Soulsik is ready to take the midwest, and even the country, by storm. Be on the lookout for tour dates in YOUR AREA throughout 2013-early 2014!!
