When Joel Pace started Soul Sliders he had two concepts in mind. One was to work in the Hammond B3 trio plus Tenor sax format that was mainstay of 60's Soul and Jazz clubs as featured by such artists as Jimmy Smith, Stanley Turrentine, George Benson, Jack McDuff and Groove Holmes. The other was to perform the Soul music that he had grown up listening and dancing to. Music by artists such as Al Green, Ray Charles, Tyrone Davis, Clarence Carter, James Brown, Sam & Dave etc. . Chicago is full of blues and rock bands, but outside of a few Motown show bands, Soul music is sadly lacking.
Soul Sliders play groove-oriented Soul with a touch of Jazz and a Bluesy edge that is great for listening and dancing. The band is made up of solid players with great chops who are easy to work with and are truely professional.
