BandRockJam

A band with deep sense of groove, colorful riffs and strong vocals

Biography

As a recently formed pop-sounding jam band hailing from Southern New Hampshire, Soultaxi is looking to make its mark on the music scene in the coming months. With a funky soul flavor and a foot-tapping groove, the listener may quickly find themselves swaying to the beat.
Soultaxi’s frontman, Scott Barnett, imparts the band’s soulful vocals and acoustic rhythms. Barnett began his search for band members in early 2007, after his departure from the band Sweigh. His first find was lead-guitarist Brian Wall, formerly from Bubingah, an original alternative band out of Lowell, Massachusetts. Wall’s colorful riffs and warm solos compliment Barnett’s percussive style. Soon after Jeff Bates was added to the mix, a solid bassist formerly from alternative bands Furious Norm and Ariel Suite. Soultaxi’s vibe is rounded out by Steve LaBranche, a djembe player who has taught African drumming at the Half Moon Festival and has participated in various drum circles, including Earth Drum Council’s Drum and Dance. Finally, finding just the right drummer proved to be Soultaxi’s biggest task. After much searching, the band decided on its final and most recent addition, Justin Casanave. Casanave has formerly kept time for the bands Hot Damn and The Skeptics, and Soultaxi is excited to begin refining their sound now that the band is complete.
Soultaxi will be in the studio this fall, but until then Myspace members are invited to enjoy a taste of their rehearsal recordings, which are updated frequently
