Sound & Structure

Sound & Structure

Sound & Structure represents a collection of musicians with the aim to draw from diverse genres of music in creating audio textures that capture the imagination. Our love for diverse styles of music ranging from ambient to jazz to rock has led us to a fusion of these elements into an organic medium.

The formation of Sound & Structure traces its origins to the Fall of 2008. With the gradual demise of various bands from the Toronto area, a new line-up of musicians was formed whose members all shared the same desire in composing music in a new and unique direction. Although the musicians forming Sound & Structure came from different musical backgrounds, the result was an environment that fostered creativity with the idea to create a live set that was in its entirety seamless.

Originally comprised as a collaboration between five musicians, Sound & Structure began playing shows in the Toronto area. At its very inception, the line-up consisted of Jordan Booth (Drums), Chad Campbell (Guitar), Aviv Toren (Guitar), Eric Simon (Bass), and Jon Getty (Sound Engineer).

More recently, the group has redefined its sound with an arrangement of three musicians who are currently active in recording and producing new material.

Influences: Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Henry Threadgill, Gastr Del Sol, Can, Don Caballero, Battles, Henry Cow, Soft Machine, Fennesz, Brian Eno, Jim O'Rourke, David Grubbs, Radiohead
