2007 - soundflood debut album

songs radio airplayed: 'impatience', 'inbox' at CFMU 93.3 and Y108

Straight from the electro pop music scene of Stuttgart, Germany, into the steel and metal heart of Hamilton. Matthias Peichl (nerve) has found not only a new home but also a new band and sound. How fitting the band’s name is soundflood, since it was formed by chance in cyberspace. Soundflood came to birth by guitar/singer/songwriter Matthias Peichl coming to Hamilton for school while looking for the perfect musical fit. That was found when meeting and hearing the band 72Heavy from Hamilton, Ontario, online. Through a series of emails, sound file exchanges, and a cyber handshake, soundflood was formed. The Canadian connection in the band is Peter Sexton (72heavy, 7inch) on bass and Mike Tipoulow (72heavy, 7inch, rocketlauncher). Sexton and ttips have been blasting Rock and Roll throughout the golden horseshoe and beyond for the better part of ten years.

Less than 2 years later, soundflood has finished recording their self entitled debut album. The enhanced CD including the video for their first single 'impatience' was released in 2007.
Soundflood is quite a different direction for all the members involved. The music has a European flair, with traces of electro pop, a far cry from the past metal days of the rhythm section. Don’t be fooled though, you don’t play in a band called 72heavy and not bring some ummph to the table. The music has hints of science fiction, carefully laid out over spacey groove laden tracks. The song’s are engulfed with mellow vocals and submerged by the heavy beats of the rhythm section. Soundflood have a groovy live aura and a great mix of songs that will lull you into space with vigor.
