Sound Of Reign

The foundation for Sound of Reign was laid in the mid 90’s when brothers John and Mark Gutierrez began working on their original Christian music after Sunday morning worship service. “We grew up in the church,” John says, “but when I truly gave my heart to the Lord, the first thing I wanted to give him was my music”. Mark continues “We never really thought of it as forming a band. We just knew that we had been given this gift of music and we wanted to give our best for the Lord”. The two brothers began sharing their music whenever they could in their local church and other churches in the area. They were often joined by other musicians from the church, who would help out by playing other instruments with them. This worked well for a while, but in time, the brothers wanted more. Mark explains, “By this time we realized that in order to take our music to the next level, we had to find people who had the same commitment to what we were doing. So we started looking for people to actually form a band.” They soon added Ralf Patterson on bass and later Greg Lee on lead guitar to complete Sound of Reign as it is today. Sound of Reign has performed in a wide variety of settings from small coffeehouses to larger outdoor events. They view their music as both entertainment and ministry. Bassist Ralf Patterson sums up the band’s music: “Our music is an expression of who we are. We are Christians, we are musicians, we are husbands and fathers. All of those elements of who we are get reflected in our music. ”
