Discography

We are currently building enough songs to release a full length album. Due to financial restrictions we are currently recording 2 songs every month this summer. Releases can be viewed on www.myspace.com/soundscapeweb where we will be continuously adding new songs as we produce them.

Bio

Soundscape began as a concept in the minds of Derek Fast and Preston Flegg, the two had played together for years but lacked the substance needed in previous collaborations to form a solid band. After bringing in bassist/vocalist Neil Young and lead singer/guitarist Stephanie Wiebe, we finally found the mix they needed to create the multi-styled music we know you will enjoy. The band began writing together in October of 2005, and only months later played their first show in 2006 with the help of St. Catharines based Gonz Productions (www.myspace.com/gonzproductions). Since then we have played venues all over St. Catharines such as Port Mansion, L3 night club, and Isaacs Pub at Brock University. Our influences come from a wide range of music. Bands like Broken Social Scene as well as the whole Arts and Crafts Family (Raising the Fawn, The Most Serene Republic, Jason Collett) have had a large impact on some of our songwriting. Other influences include instrumental bands such as Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed! you Black Emperor, Progressive bands like The Mars Volta, Rush, and Bella Flek and the Flektones. We also draw occasionally from the Folk genre as well as from great songwriters such as Jeff Buckley. They will be heading into the studio in mid May to continue recording their upcoming album expected in fall/winter of 2006/07. Working with Engineer Rob Wells in Fonthill, we are gradually building our dream album.
