"Sounds Of Good News presents 'Give Thanks' Event Nov. 21"

Sounds of Good News Productions (SOGN) cordially invites everyone to attend their annual “Give Thanks!” (a musical community celebration of Thanksgiving) at 6 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 21. Location is Central Christian Church, 6595 E. Guilford Road, Rockford, and the event is free to the public.

Come and enjoy an evening of “Songspiration,” historic facts, sing-alongs and praise testimonials. A special feature will be an “Attitude of Gratitude” message from Dianna Cole, SOGN business manager and director of education, founder and president of “Wisdom and You” (WAY Enterprises and “It’s ALL in Me” workshop).

Free-will donations will benefit the Young Eagles Success (YES) Club for character development and excellence for kids. This event is co-sponsored by St. Paul Lutheran Church and Central Christian Church.

"Sounds Of Good News is "Jazzin' it Up" in September"

Carl and Dianna Cole of Sounds Of Good News (SOGN) Productions are “Jazzin’ It Up” with their annual fall concert at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23 (the first day of autumn) at Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 415 N. Church St., Rockford.

Donations will benefit the “Young Eagles Success” (YES) Club anti-drug, alcohol, violence and crime vision of character development for kids. This event will also introduce the Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) “Violence Enders” Initiative with Kennedy Middle School and SOGN media specialist and adviser, James Ambruoso.

You don’t want to miss this inspirational, educational evening of “favorites” jazz music featuring Dorothy Paige-Turner, Jodi Beach, “Living Legend” Julian Swain, Angie Fellows and her “Senior Follies” stars, Dr. Kris Tumilowicz, Ken Stein, Auburn High CAPA student saxophonist Evon Sams and more.

The extravaganza will include a “swing-along” sing-along of autumn and September songs as well as a special tribute to Charlotte Hackin for her life and legacy of community service in the arts.

Hackin is well known in the community for her contributions in various venues. She attended the Art Institute in Chicago as well as DePaul University. She served for six years as a Rockford Park District commissioner and was on the boards of Crusader Clinic and Camaraderie Arts. She belongs to the Kiwanis Club and the League of Women Voters. She is a recipient of the YWCA Blanche Ellis Starr Award for women of achievement in the arts, having both exhibited and taught art in various locations.
