The best kept secret in music

Still working on that hot first release.

Feeling a bit camera shy

It started with a few Craigslist ads for a drummer. Nick tried to, one-by-one, find musicians who shared not only his vision and drive, but similar musical taste to his own. He was tired of being a part of bands that, despite interesting music, couldn't break the mold of generic. So, the intent of the new project was to create an amalgamation of all the music that has provided inspiration - everything from John Lennon to Tool - and recharge the rock genre as a whole.

Luckily for Nick, Salchi answered the ad. At the audition they played a few cover songs and messed with a few original pieces Nick had begun. It concluded with Salchi playing a drum solo that spanned genres from metal to latin. Recently migrated from Boston to the New York city , the Berklee College graduate and native New Yorker forged a friendship that transcended music.

For almost five months Nick and Salchi would continue to work out a few pieces of music and go so far as to begin planning a recording despite missing an integral part of the band: the bassist.

As fate would have it, Salchi, after reconnecting with a long-time friend, told Nick that he was going to bring David to audition. David, a veteran guitarist of 16 years, was giving up a couple of strings for a 4-string bass after hearing the things that Salchi had to say about the music and potential of the new project.

The audition, which lasted almost 12 minutes, quickly turned into a near two-hour practice. Afterward, Nick jokingly asked David if he'd like to join the band - as though it were even necessary after it was so obvious that the three locked - to which David responded "hell yeah."

Soundspeak is a band with something to say. The music created by the trio truly does meld a wide range of genres and sounds, which, combined with poignant, observational lyrics makes for a new face of rock. And this is only the beginning.
