"The Sour Diesel Band Biography" (SDB)
The origin of the name Sour Diesel comes from a term used to describe the sound of an orchestra or symphony tuning up for a performance.
The cultivation of its term has also been heard chronically at festivals and shows dating as far back as the Grateful Dead tours.
The culmination of the Sour Diesel Band could be said to have started as far back as a seven piece band incl. horn section called El Bano, that Scott Kacher(keyboards) played in with Ryan Mullins.
El Bano dissolved when Ryan moved to Co. going on to Percussion Institute of Technology in Ca. Scott went on to play with Interstellar Bus Stop.
Ryan moved to Austin TX and became roomates/bandmates with Jeff Carnowski(Bass)
where they played in several latin/afrocuban type bands together. This is also how John Kizilarmut(drums) came into the picture, showing up as an alternate drummer for some of their gigs.
In the winter 05/06 Scott was playing six nights a week in the Colorado Rockies when he met back up with Ryan who just moved to Denver.
In the summer 06, Scott was back in Des Moines and learned through Ryan that John was in Des Moines, and that Jeff was on his way! The coincidences felt likes 7 degrees. With the final addition of Nathan Finestead, a well studied and well known jazz/bluegrass guitarist, Sour Diesel Band was formed.
Featuring a mix of extraordinary talent that brings a driving New Orleans style blend of Jazz/Funk/Rock/Bluegrass/Boogaloo/Experimental jams to their festival loving fans, Sour Diesel has been impressing fans since their debut headlining the Octoberfest at 101.
Sour Diesel Band, friends and fans are very dedicated music lovers that enjoy going to festivals/shows all over the country at every chance they get. Shows like Wide Spread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Medeski Martin & Wood, and North Mississippi Allstars, and festivals like Wakarusa, Banaroo, and New Orleans’s Jazzfest.
At a Sour Diesel Show you can expect to see their friends and fans PARTYING!!! being CHEERFUL!!! AND GETTING DOWN TO THE DIESEL DRIVING MUSIC OF SOUR DIESEL BAND!

Sour Diesel Band is currently finishing up on their debut CD that they are currently performing live, as well as, traditionals and fan favorites.
