Bio

The Colombian band SOUTH PEOPLE, Born in 2006, brings an vanguard proposal, where the groove, funk, hip hop and Colombian music are woven impeccably giving a unique sound. Their lyrics have some critics about society, but always positive messages.

His music is characterized by the particular use of powerful guitars, funky sax lines and voices that range from singing to rap.


SOUTH PEOPLE led by CARLOS CAÑON (Guitar and voice) and PLUTARCO GUIO (Saxophone and choirs) has shared stages with musicians such as John Scofield, Don Byron, Steve Coleman, Tom Coster, Samuel Torres, among others. They have participated in different Jazz Festivals, among which stand out: Festival Jazz to the Park 2009, Festival Jazz to the Park 2011, Festival of Jazz of Neiva 2012, III Festival voices of the Caribbean Jazz Plaza Cartagena 2012, Festival Volkswagen Sonem Fest April 2013, District Grouping Invited in Jazz to the Park September 2013 (Opening to Maceo Parker in Big Band format)

In 2010 they released their first album "DESIERTO AZULADO" and in 2013 "THIS IS TIME". Currently they are presenting their 3rd album "FUNKY CON MANÍ", a live DVD recorded at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, where guests like: Jacobo Vélez "El Callegüeso", Pablo Martínez de Salsa and Groove, Edgardo Garcés "El Guajiro "" The percussionist Juan Carlos Puello "Chongo" of Sidestepper and Lida Villamarin.
