Bio
Craft Pop quartet Southern Resident Killer Whales are the latest effort of Minneapolis acoustic indie rocker and songwriter Dan Hylton’s. “And if the phrase “Craft Pop” evokes something between a workbench and great deal of focused labor and, well, a fine beer, that’s sort of the point,” writes locally-based Camden News.
With one foot in the singer-songwriter “storyteller” tradition and one in lush, pop” arrangements, Hylton’s brand of Craft Pop is something like the crossroad between a slightly offbeat Glen Hansard and a slightly upbeat Morrissey. And Hylton has long been recognized in the MN music media for writing the sort lyrics that, in his words, “make people feel like they just had a conversation with a really good friend:”
“…fresh, smart, yet deeply personal and emotional words capturing life’s significant moments and its lessons taught”
(Christine Mlodzik, Rift Magazine)
“Hylton makes an indelible mark...balances quirky humor, clever slice-of-life observations, and raw emotion.”
(Peter Vallely, MPR 89.3 The Current)
