Bio

South Paw Entertainment was born after the death of another record label. Kevin English who was part owner in the old label broke away and developed a new label. Lost Soulz and Kontroversi were signed to the old label and thought that Kevin would be man to take their career to the next level so they went with him. Kevin had known a young budding producer named Chris B for a while and saw his hunger, and thought he would be the perfect partner. Chris B was developing great engineering skills and had his own studio where he recorded mix cd's for Di$e man of Tri-State and D.E. or C.R.E.A.M. Corp. Once Chris B agreed to partner with Kevin they Decided to bring D.E. and Di$e into the New label. Di$e had been working with two of his friends (Deuce, and Fame) and wanted them to be a part of the new movement, so they formed Tri-State. Now the label was complete besides the fact that they had not yet come up with the South Paw name.
The first show as a label came about at the Thunder Dome in Baltimore Maryland. Everyone had their own identity but the label as a whole still did not have a name. One hour before going on stage Kevin was reading the stickers all over the Thunder Dome bathroom wall and noticed two stickers next to each other, one reading 95 south and the other a picture of a paw with the word in the middle. South Paw was the words that described this movement. "They never saw us coming," just like that left had punch that knocked out Roy Jones Jr. When Kevin ran to the crew and told them the name there were mixed emotions but when they jumped on stage all of the artist were yelling South Paw. Needless to say the name stuck.
As artist we all feel like the underdog because radio want play our music like we want, we don't get the shows we want, and all in all we don't get the love we think we deserve. All the South Paw artists feel this way but each artist has their own style which makes our label unique. A lot of labels that have a large crew of artist seem to all have the same sound or flow. Each South Paw artist and group has their own flow and they select a wide range of beats.
D.E. has a hard core flow which developed from his life experience. His hard upbringing comes across in his music. He tells it just like he sees it or like he saw it at the time. He is the rebel of the crew there is no containing D.E., he is a free spirit. The name D.E. comes from the gun called the Desert Eagle. He says that the Desert Eagle is a BIG gun with a big bark and thats how he comes across on the mic.
Kontroversi consist of two artists (Kompleks and Statik) who can rap about anything. They are not the typical rappers. Their lyrics are very thought provoking and real. They can talk about the streets, the love they have for their mothers, and they can take it to the club. This is a very diverse group. Kompleks is the super energized member of the group while Statik is the smooth laid back member.
Lost Soulz (Kadar and Kashon) has that special something that the world has not seen from a duo since RUN DMC. They consist of two high energy members who are very lyrical. Although they are both high energy they are opposites in life. Kadar is the more outgoing member of the group off stage but when Kashon gets the mic in his hand, get out of the way. Kadar is known for finding ways to say everyday things in a poetic manor. Kashon on the other hand is Mr. Crash the party, he jumps on the track with full force. Lost Soulz brings the streets to the club, and the club to the streets. "We do it for the Soulz we lost."
Tri-State consist of three artist, Di$e, Deuce, and Fame who have three states of mind. This trio loves to party with the ladies. They bring so much energy to a track that it almost always makes you want to party. They make the club bangers that everybody is waiting to hear. This group has no problem making the hits that the radio loves. Some artists are so street or so commercial that they never can find that fine line in the middle, Tri State doesn't have that problem.
Gamin is the Kanye West of the crew, he is a rapper and producer. He was signed to Southpaw as a producer but he continued to slip in the booth and lay down hot verses that could not be ignored. His lyrics are straightforward and his beats give off as much feeling as his lyrics. Webster’s dictionary describes Gamin as an often homeless boy who roams about the streets; an urchin. Listen long enough and you will get to know Gamin.
