After playing the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Arkansas, The international Puerto Blues Festival in Mexico, tours in Memphis, TN and Mexico, South Saturn Delta's latest release "Drink From The Well" received the “2009 Best Self-Produced Blues CD” nomination by the national Blues Foundation.

It was April’s hot-smoke-and-honey vocals that first got their attention, but it was the breadth of the band’s material that reads like a recipe for American music gumbo; equal parts jazz, blues, soul, gospel and the spirit of New Orleans permeate their songs along with a dose of Hendrix added like Tabasco sauce.

“Drink From the Well,” the band’s second album, features original songwriting along with a very special reinterpretation of Malvina Reynold's song "God Bless The Grass." “We recorded it as a tribute to her and folk legend Pete Seeger, who popularized the song in the 1960's” says Iorio.

The album was recorded live in one open studio space with microphones suspended from the ceiling to get a sound that harkens back to the days of earlier blues recordings. South Saturn Delta’s keyboardist, John Tiberi took full advantage of the studio’s vintage Hammond B3 and baby grand piano, providing perfect balance between Iorio’s classic blueslady vocals and guitarist Dave Fecca’s gritty leads.

Artistic Statement:
South Saturn Delta is an inspired group of artists who habitually “drink from the well” that is the reservoir of American roots music; allowing it to infuse and inspire artistically when writing original compositions and re-interpreting song.

Lyrics

Mistaken Identity Blues (Evil)

Written By: April Iorio of South Saturn Delta. Copyright 2007.

You think you’re gonna tell me what to do?
Evil

Try to dispel the seed inside of you
Evil

One day the world will turn & see through you man!
And I will turn and scream as loud as I can!
It’s evil, oh it’s evil, oh you’re so evil.

One day that halo’s gonna bleed right through
Evil

And just reveal that sorry stubborn, stubborn, man
You want the world to spin and look at you
Evil

You want the choice to come from only one man
It’s evil, oh it’s evil, man you’re so evil.

You want the tide to rip right on through
Evil

One day the world will see me as I am man!
And when they see the enemy is you
Evil

You better turn and run as fast as you can.
It’s evil, oh it’s evil, man you’re so evil.

Yes you better turn and run as fast as you can…
You better run as fast and hard as you can
One day the world will see us as we are man!
Then you better turn and run as fast as you can!

Cuz You’re evil, man you’re evil, damn your so evil!

Dragon Clouds

Written By: April Iorio of South Saturn Delta. Copyright 2007.

Dragon Clouds floating by
They eat the time that passes me by
They grow fat while I’m at work
The buzzer sounds I hit the dirt.

(Chorus)
Dragon Clouds…
Bipity I--- Bip bip be yada da
Dragon Clouds…
Bipity I--- Di Dum

Dragon clouds floating by
They eat the time that passes by
They grow fat when you watch TV
And forfeit your epiphany

(Chorus)

Dragon Clouds that float on by
They eat the time spent when you’re high
They grow fat as you fade away
And put off you life another day.

( Chorus)

Dragon Clouds floating by
Rich on the time that’s passed us by
Their breath now shields the sun moon
As souls are lost in the vacuum.

( Chorus)
