Bio

The South Saturn Delta sound goes back to the roots of Blues-influenced Rock'N'Roll with a particularly tasty Southern flavor.

With influences ranging from Classic Southern Rock sound of The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes & CCR, to the Blues sounds of BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top & Jimi Hendrix to the Classic 60's & 70's English sound of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones & Cream... SSD creates a sound as thick as an Alabama swamp!

SSD plays original material that remains true to the spirit of all their influences, as well as covers from a wide genre of artists...but what they have in common is the same Blues-based Rock'N'Roll origin!

Artists covered include Allman Brothers, Black Crowes, Bad Company, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Eagles, Cream, Eric Clapton, Doors, CCR, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Lenny Kravitz, AC/DC...

South Saturn Delta evolved from starting in the Summer of 2005 in Dora, Alabama. This project aimed to merge a hurricane of blues licks, whiskey-soaked vocals, and a freight train of bass and drums into a place that felt like home.

With a few key lineup changes, that band became South Saturn Delta, reflecting both the new look and line-up of the band and a brand new attitude. The current lineup includes long-time members on guitar & vocals,Andy Richardson on drums, Andrew Mills on bass, as well as local music veterans Michael Eskew on the keys, guitar & vocals, and Joseph Dorough on lead guitar & vocals.

In addition to the 6-10 local club shows around Central Alabama that SSD plays each month, the boys have played in the Sloss Furnace "Stokin The Fire" music festival and performed "Opening Act" duties for such legendary musicians such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Georgia Satellites...and, yes, even Kid Rock...at Verizon Music Center Amphitheater in Birmingham!!!
