--Space Junk --
On the rise since their formation in 2009 at SUNY Fredonia, Space Junk has bridged the gap between the DJ and Jam scene in Western NY. With their unique sound, mixing traditional rock structure, scorching hot peaks, and complex developmental jamming, this quartet uses house influenced improvised EDM as the force to separate them from your typical solo based Jam band. Every show, Space Junk takes the audience on a unique musical journey – ensuring that no two shows are the same. Their loyal fan base ties this live intelligent dance party together. Space Junk is sure to keep your feet moving, your blood pumping, and your brain in a frenzy. Their shows are like a bad habit, and you are sure to be left wanting more.

Space Junk began their musical experimentation while in school at SUNY Fredonia. Bassist, Will Thompson and Drummer, Kevin Rogers formed the Electro/House duo – Level Dirt. Using basement parties as a Launchpad, Level Dirt was able to bring a living pulse to Rogers’ Electro compositions. With the addition of guitarist, Matt Fantini, in 2009, Space Junk was born. Their repertoire expanded to include influences rock, reggae, indie, and bluegrass while using EDM soaked glue to hold it all together. Over the next year, the band left Fredonia and moved to their current home in Buffalo, NY.

Joining forces with Buffalo’s Frosty Tone DJ crew, Space Junk proved that a live band could hold their own with the late night Djs and MCs. Here, they established their long form improvisational development, reminiscent of their DJ counterparts. Maintaining a presence amongst jam bands in the Allentown bar district, Space Junk continued to push the limits of their tension filled peaks. They have shared the stage with acts such as Jimkata, The Heavy Pets, Conscious Pilot, and The Manhattan Project. Over the past year, they have been performing throughout Western and Upstate NY. They most recently added keyboardist and DJ, Nick Orlando, better known as Lando Magic in the Rochester area. With this addition, the band has taken their sound to a new level and has opened more doors to improvisation.

Close your eyes during one of their jams, and you will see four analog musicians transform into an 8 armed digital beast. Fueled by Heavy delays, face-melting guitar solos, mind bending electro jams, and an ambiguous drummer/DJ/keyboardist (Yes, their drummer does all three simultaneously), Space Junk is sure to be a force to be reckoned with this the upcoming summer festival season.
