Spacemuseum

BandAlternativeSinger/Songwriter

The bouncy, swirling "Carousel Pop" of Spacemuseum takes its inspiration from the songwriting of John Lennon, The Kinks and Harry Nilsson, while drawing heavily on more recent indie rock influences, including The Pixies and Radiohead.

Biography

One of Aaron's main goals as a songwriter has been to write hooks and melodies that are instantly recognizable while juxtaposing them against different chords than one might expect. This technique, inspired from his songwriting heroes including John Lennon and Elliott Smith, has been used to imprint his unique personality onto all of his hook-driven compositions.

Lyrics have always come naturally to Aaron, a result of being the son of two published authors. He inherited a great ear for production from his father who, before starting a writing career, produced the number one single "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)," and was publicist to rock legends like The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Steppenwolf.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2002, Aaron toured the world playing for audiences from Santa Monica to Saint Sebastian. Settling in to the local Indie community of Silverlake in 2004, Aaron has gone on to play some of LA's premiere rock venues including The Knitting Factory, Hotel Cafe and BB King's while performing regular residencies at the Universal Bar and Grill and the Kokomo Cafe.

In the meantime. his music has been featured on Boston's WERS in a segment called "The Best Of The Open Mics" and was described as "Cool as all hell" by Don Klaus of Rockzone. Last year, Aaron co-founded the EP-only record label, Rookie Card Records with a group of childhood friends.

Currently, Aaron is seeking wider distribution for his band's recordings and continues to write, perform and record in Los Angeles.

Lyrics

Fare Thee Well

Written By: Aaron Spacemuseum

Fare thee well my old friend
You got lost around the bend
But fare thee well, my old friend
'Cause in the end you’ll prevail

Did anybody ever tell you that they cared?
If they ever got the chance to I’ll bet that you got scared
I’ll bet you never wanted anyone knowing
How you never knew where you were going
So you hid inside yourself cause you never wanted anyone’s help

Very well my old friend
I’ll let you get your way again
But fare thee well, you lonely child
'Cause we all know you’re low on time

I’ll bet you never wanted anyone knowing
How you never knew where you were going
‘Til you died inside yourself, cause you’d never wanted anyone’s help

Fare thee well
My old friend
Fare thee well

One Less Star

Written By: Aaron Spacemuseum

Long night,
New York apartment under streetlights
Flickers on pavement glass
Another star burnt out
December, colder than ever
Now the summer’s too hard to remember, how?
Under one less star

Well I guess it has to be
that the best ones always leave too soon
But would it be so bad to fade and not burn away?

Faces, out of the woodwork and they’re saying
“Man, that was good work that he done; I remember when…”

I guess it has to be
that the best ones always leave too soon
But would it be so bad to fade and not burn away?
Do you think you could have stayed and not burned away?

Save yourself from your sympathy
Don’t deny my memory
Save yourself from your sympathy
You can’t betray these memories
Save yourself from your memories

Baby Blew

Written By: Aaron Spacemuseum

Times are tough
That’s what they always say to me
Things are rough
It’s never how it ought to be
But baby says that it’s gonna change
And baby says it’ll be ok…

My baby blew me away
I never had to say a word
She knew what to do
And that’s what keeps me
Coming back for more

I’m getting scared
I think I’ll burn out pretty soon
But I don’t care
I’d rather burn alive than wait to bloom
But baby says just take baby steps
Don’t run so fast or you’ll lose your breath

My baby blew me away
I never had to say a word
She screwed me today
And that’s what keeps me
Coming back for more

In this recession each prized possession
Is worth more than you know
So count each blessing and learn each lesson
Cause great things like my baby come and go away

You’ll never get to say a word
I was blown away; thrown out on another curb

Cause my baby blew me today
I never had to say a word
She screwed me today
And that’s what keeps me
Coming back for more
