"LOJIQ Awards Gala: Spaïcy wins the Grand Prize"

At the third LOJIQ (Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec) Awards Gala held on May 31 at the National Assembly of Québec, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, presented the LOJIQ Grand Prize to author-singer-songwriter Spaïcy Bazile for her work on a humanitarian and creative project to encourage the rebuilding of Haiti.

After the violent earthquake that shook Haiti in January 2010, Spaïcy Bazile raised funds through sales of her latest song Je me souviens Haïti to open the ANNE-LAMERCIE-CEDAT Academy in the region of Cap Haïtien. With support from LOJIQ, she also traveled to Brussels in January 2011 to perform at a symposium on Haiti at the Canadian Embassy. She took the opportunity to present her humanitarian project to the ambassadors, dignitaries and members of the Haitian community in Brussels who attended the evening. - MRI

"UNESCO - PERFORMANCE"

Oct 19 – Performance by Québec artist Spaïcy Bazile

Spaïcy Bazile, a Québec artist, wowed the crowd yesterday with her rhythmic music. It was her second performance, after singing at the opening ceremonies on Tuesday. This show was particularly special as it was performed of a large Picasso piece (behind) in the foyer of the UNESCO building. - UNESCO

"UNESCO - PERFORMANCE"

The most stunning moments, however, were those in which youth were participants, rather than recipients of information. Dancing broke out in the foyer during the musical pause offered by Haitian singer Spaicy, including everyone from the speakers to the delegates and observers to the UNESCO cleaning staff. And at the end of the forum, after the dignified speeches of the Director General and the President of the General Assembly, the closing gesture of the event had the youth delegates throng the stage all together; each one collected a flag from any country not their own and waved it proudly. It was a chaotic moment filled with hugs and pictures with the colleagues around them. These were the allies they had taken on during the action-packed week. These were their new partners in shaking up the world. And that alliance, rather than the report produced or the skills gained, was the most impressive legacy of the Youth Forum. - UNESCO

Bio

Born in Montreal Canada, of Haitian heritage, Spaïcy is a young songwriter and composer and trilingual singer (French, English and Creole) called upon to play a unique role as an artist, as well as a very generous and implicated person within her community.

From a very young age, Spaïcy’s environment was one in which music occupied a privileged place. Her influences date back to her childhood, where her Grandmother would lull her to religious hymns in Creole and her mother, a great music lover, initiated her to various World musical styles.

Recipient of LOJIQ’s Grand Prize in Quebec, Canada, for her artistic and humanitarian engagement, aiming at encouraging education, most notably for young Haitians, she was invited to perform as well as address the conference at the opening of the 7th UNESCO’s Youth Forum in Paris.

In the fall of 2008, Spaïcy released her first album titled, 1st Intuition. She is currently working on the release of her second album with the sounds of Soul, Afro and Jazz.
She has been part of many famous musical scenes such as the Francofolies of Montreal, and broadcast on Ô Rendez-vous in Paris.

Wishing to contribute by sharing knowledge, by abolishing prejudice and achieving a better understanding of our world, Spaïcy invites you to her universe, where she will transport you to a world of splendour, kindness, and hope. Let yourselves be charmed by her warm, deep, irresistible voice, as well as her music and lyrics which soothe the soul.
