Agostino “Spankox” Carollo (also knows as "Ago", "X-Treme", "Eyes Cream" and "Tino Augusto DJ") has been said to be variously a “secret agent, Italian stallion, fashion model, limo driver, photographer, painter and poet”. Despite the big fuss that constantly ensues over this international man of mystery, it turns out that he is simply an Italian artist, composer, record and event producer, label owner and DJ.
The legendary Ministry of Sound label and club in London chose Spankox's To The Club (Monday Night To The Club, Tuesday Night…) as anthem for their best nights and included the song in practically all their compilations released internationally between 2004 and 2006. To The Club became a smash hit worldwide, achieving the rare status of "club classic" of the international dance and house scene.
The song was entirely written and produced by the man behind the Spankox moniker, Agostino Carollo. He is also known for his creations under other monikers like Eyes Cream (Fly Away was a #1 Billboard Club Play hit in the USA in 2000 while Open Up Your Mind reached the Billboard Top 10 in 2003), Ago (Put On Your Red Shoes – a Top 20 hit in Germany, Austria and Scandinavia in 2002 and Tell Me Where You Are – big radio hit in the USA, Canada and Italy in 2003) and X-Treme (That’s The Way, My Fire and Love Song - n.1 sales chart hit all over Europe in 1999 and covered by Right Said Fred and Top 20 in Germany in 2002).
In 2008 the name of Spankox spread from the club scene to the rock and pop world, because his official remix of Elvis Presley's Baby Let's Play House, released by SonyBMG, reached the top of the international record sales charts. Soon after he became the first artist in history to produce a whole official Elvis Presley remix album, “Re:Versions” (SonyMusic, 2008), that Spankox presented in Graceland in front of thousands of Elvis Presley fans. The success of the first remix album led to the production of other two: “Re:Mixes” (2009) and “Christmas Remixes” (2009).
At the beginning of September 2010 Spankox’s “You Like Torero” was released by several labels around the world and quickly became one of the hottest tracks in Spain, Israel, Turkey and in several other countries. The track was also released in a special version featuring the sexy vocals of Patrizia D’Addario, the famous Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s hot date.
At the beginning of 2011 Ago’s beautiful track “So True” was released in the USA by the legendary label Nervous Records and it reached on March 19, 2011 the n.10 in the official Billboard USA Top 25 Dance Radio Airplay Chart. It is going to be released soon also in Benelux by Spinnin’ Records, in France by Jeff Records, in Italy by Everness, in Russia by Dance Paradise and in Spain, where it’s already being played by many radios, by Blanco y Negro.
Spankox’s summer track for 2011 is called “Michael Jackson Is Not Dead”: it’s a sassy, no-messin' disco-house dazzler which tips its trilby in the direction of Studio 54 circa 1982-1983. The track is a dancefloor monster. It reached the n.1 in the UK Upfront Club Chart, n. 6 in the UK Club Chart, n.3 in the UK Dance Chart, n. 14 in the DMC World House Chart. It was included in the “Clubland 19” compilation that reached the n. 2 in the official album sales chart in the UK.
Ago has just completed a new track called “1 Thing” that is set to become a chart topper. Already playlisted by several radios and top club DJs, it is quickly gaining attention at International level. It’s going to be released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Kontor Records. He has also been working on the new Elvis Presley remix album called “Re:Volution”, to be released internationally in November. The Single “Pocketful Of Rainbows” (Spankox Remix) just reached this week the n.32 in the Dutch Top 100 Official single sales chart.
In October 2011 Ago produced and co-wrote Eddy Wata’s new single “Señorita”. The Nigerian/Jamaican singer is also featured in Ago’s new single which will be released in November: Spankox feat. Eddy Wata “I Feel So Good”, a fantastic track! He also produced the track “Wrong In The Right Way”, his first cooperation with Spanish superstar Miguel Bosé. The single will be released in January as Miguel Bosé & Spankox.
Ago Carollo Spankox is today requested as DJ all over the world and his fine house sets are not only musically spot on but also take the audience to an unforgettable journey. He’s played his music in some of the best clubs on the planet such as: Amnesia (Ibiza), Felix (Berlin, Germany), Escape (Amsterdam, Holland), Lounge Gabanna (Tenerife, Spain), Nikki Beach (Portimao, Purtugal), Neo (Moscow), The Zoo (Ibiza, Spain), Pachuka (Venice, Italy), Crobar (Miami, USA), Compound (Atlanta, USA), The Docks (Toronto, Canada), Voodoo (Las Vegas)... and many others.
