Oakland, California's Sparky Grinstead has been blazing his own musical trail - writing,recording and performing - since the 70s. His albums, all released on his private label, Sparlene, are highly prized and sought after by collectors and fans of his brand of quirkily romantic acoustic pop. In 2005, after a nearly 2 decade "retirement", Sparky reunited with members of his old band,The Bonkeenies, and formed his current outfit The Mighty Backorders. Since then he has been performing around Northern California and releasing remastered versions of his early albums. An album of new material, "Winter Comes and Goes", was released in 2009 and Sparky is currently working on a his latest collection, "Grimace"
