"SPEAKOUT! Review for Ghost Song"

"I just added these guys this morning, and they rock! The intro to "Ghost Song" is a great lead into the song. Overall, the guitars are great and the guitar solo is awesome towards the end of the song. Great drums throughout the song; the use of the toms got my attention in the beginning of the song. The vocal harmonies are amazing, and the vocals go very well with the powerful lyrics. Overall, they remind me of a mix of Silverstein and Breaking Benjamin. They also have a song called "Down" that is really good on their ReverbNation website. Check them out at http://www.reverbnation.com/speakout and get their song "Ghost Song" for free. I did, and I highly recommend you do the same." - Derek - Music Updates Today

Bio

SPEAKOUT! is a hard rock/pop-punk band from Los Angeles, California dating back to July of 2011 with sounds similar to those of Rise Against, The Offspring, and Thrice.

Deriving inspiration from the discontinuities in life, trends/culture, the man-made forces such as political identity, religion, self-worth and capital, singer/guitarist Aaron Werstine constructed the project under the belief that everyone has a voice and a personal responsibility to speak out when things aren't just in the world, society and in one's personal life. This idea quickly caught on when it was brought to the attention of his close friends and family, and SPEAKOUT! was born.

Though he was greatly driven, the task of finding the right members stalled the project. After struggling for months to find a dedicated, talented, well-fitted band to play with, Aaron met lead guitarist Heath Milton, and from the first note, knew that Heath was the man for the job.

Even though the couple received positive feedback from listeners, they found it hard to find a permanent rhythm section, failing multiple times to seal the deal with a bassist and a drummer. Unwilling to lose faith in the project, the duo (with the help of a fill-in drummer) began recording what would later become part of the band's first EP in February/March of 2012. From there, things only improved for SPEAKOUT! During that time, drummer Yuichi Ikeda was discovered after responding to an ad the band posted online, and Aaron's old friend-of-a-friend Joey Leon auditioned for bassist after running into Aaron at work one evening in early March. Finally realizing that they had found the right group of musicians to bring the band to life, SPEAKOUT!'s lineup was officially set that April.

Without wasting any time, the band quickly got their name out and began playing shows all over Southern California. SPEAKOUT! was featured at notable venues such as the House of Blues in Hollywood and The Shore Ultra Lounge in Long Beach. The band is currently in the process of finishing up their first EP (which Joey's younger brother, Jesse Leon, is helping to record).

With many good things in sight, keep your eyes open for this band! Their powerful music, engaging vocals, and jaw-dropping performances leave their audiences always wanting more. (Sept. 27, 2012)

"Waiting for opportunity to knock on your door or a problem to fix itself is like waiting for a thief to come back with your purse. You can wish it so all you want, but faith is only fulfilled when someone acts toward your wishes. Be that someone, make the changes you want to see, and speak out wherever and whenever you witness injustice in this world." -- SPEAKOUT!
