"Music Mondays With Speak Williams"

Once again it is Monday, back to school and back to work for many of us and many other things that we like to call the Monday Blahs. But there is at least one good thing about Monday…Music Monday (or for you twitter heads #MM). Bringing you some the best music to be found on a Monday is of course one of BLAKstar’s favorite lyricist and artist Speak Williams. I must say I am feeling the freestyle over the Lupe beat.. *NICE* - Mealee Thomas

Bio

Hailing from Columbus Ohio, Keith "Speak" Williams is a multi-faceted artist, writer, musician, and emcee who effortlessly weaves the raw lyricism of classic Hip-Hop with the eclectic, soulful melodies of old-school bebop and jazz to produce a distinct sound that is already resonating throughout the streets of Columbus. A gifted emcee in his own right, Speak Williams has further enhanced his sound through collaborative efforts with numerous musicians, most notably his work with internationally acclaimed producer J. Rawls and esteemed Jazz-Hop band, the Liquid Crystal Project. Maintaining the artistic ingenuity and cleverness of a refined word-smith, Speak has proven that he can hold his own alongside even the most highly regarded poets and emcees. He has shared the stage with Def Poets Sunni Patterson, Jon Goode and Cola Rum, has opened for Talib Kweli, and continues to mold his artistic expression by performing at various conferences, cafes, and musical events throughout the country.

Music Monday Vol. 1, a collection of freestyles produced over classic, current, and original Hip-Hop beats, has garnered over 10,000 downloads. Consistently following a trend of creating music that is entertaining and soul-piercingly deep, Speak has partnered with producer/pianist B-Jazz,of international Jazz-Hop band, The Liquid Crystal Project, to compose his first solo EP, Passport. The first single, "The City" represents Speak's view of his home city, Columbus, through the eyes of a watchful poet and continues to draw views and downloads daily.

If the term SPEAK means to convey significance, then this performer is aptly named. Through profound civil service, socially conscious messages, and lyrical finesse, Speak has already signified an absolute ability to change Hip-Hop in a way unseen thus far.
