Feeling a bit camera shy

A San Diego, California based funk/rock/soul band originally formed in 2003. The 5-piece group blends syncopated grooves and tight compositions, featuring extended live jams, which rise and fall with dynamic intensity.

A highly talented collective of musicians, the group includes lead vocalist and acoustic guitarist Trent Hancock, guitarist Derek Dossey, drummer and vocalist Kyle Turk, bassist Chris O'Meally, and keyboardist Adam Tierney.

Big Backyard's musical arrangements offer a refreshing combination of vintage pop funk and powerful rock. The songs are written and recorded in a radio-friendly format, while the live performances showcase the band's ability to control and extend intricate jams. The EP, released in March 2006, represents the variety of influences, and arrangement abilities of the group as a whole. Some of the band's influences include Jamiroquai, Maroon 5, Phish, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck, P-Funk, Gavin DeGraw, The Meters and others.
