SPECIAL EFFECTS- the dictionary meaning is unique or unusual impressions made on the mind.
Special Effects was formed in May of 2009 by frontman Apollo Bowman, who wanted to create music that was a little different from the normal. And that would effect people in a special way.
Apollo moved to Los Angeles in February of 2005. Ideas, music and lyrics began to take place in song format.
" I wanted to create and combine different musical elements of pop, rock, dance, electronic, industrial, punk and even experimental. "
With influences from White Zombie, Thrill Kill Kult, Iggy Pop and the Rolling Stones to Mariah Carey, Depeche Mode and even Slayer. What do you expect to get?
" The songs are about being free and doing what you really want to do, instead of what others are doing. They are subconscious undertones to wake people up and realize who we really are. "
After writing songs since a child, Apollo's dream and wish has come true with the release of the debut album "Demonstration". Containing six original songs plus three re-mixes. All written and produced by Apollo.
"The first single "Nothin Matters" is about getting in nature and seeing what the world is really about and once you do nothin matters and maybe it's about a little love on the rocks ".
The rest of the album builds on this sound from big bass beats, loud guitar, synths, sex lyrics and one night stand love songs, combined with desperate, steamy, pop, rock vocals. And even an instrumental journey to start off with, full of crunch guitar, beats and space sounds.
Special Effects will be taking their "Demonstration" to the stage in 2010.
" These songs are meant to be played live, loud and in your face ".
Touring, promoting, videos, songwriting and already working on the next album is only the beginning for Special Effects. Because like their songs states:
" Once is never enough when your filled with all this stuff ".
