"Masters of free rock"

"Creaking guitars, crushing electricity, SPIFFhaUS! distinguishg marks."

"Xavi Molinero (drums), Sergi Muntaner (bass) and Ricardo Zamanillo (guitar) are three magnificent musicians that play free-rock, a music style not excessively in fashion theses days. But that does not worry the band: "we play the kind of music we love, ad that’s the only way to do it ". Creaking guitars, crushing electricity and jazzy time signatures are SPIFFhaUS! distinguishg marks."

Bio

SPIFFhAUS! are an instrumental rock three-piece which belong to the promising generation of experimental rock bands that have come out from Barcelona (Spain) in the last few years.

Their influences comprise classics as Jimi Hendrix, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, This Heat and also more recent bands such as Don Caballero, Shellac or The Jesus Lizard, which leads to a sound that combines the ferocious intensity and volume of punk rock with the intelligence, sonic adventure and not conventional song structures of prog and math rock, all being interspersed with a few tinges of jazz rythms.

Insane rhythms and ever evolving compositions make SPIFFhAUS! songs and its tricky structures a music experience of unexpected dimensions that throws you miles from where you were heading. SPIFFhAUS! are masters at creating jerky shifts in time signatures in just 3-minute songs.

Their first LP "Abierto hasta hasta el intestino", issued in 2009 as a vinyl limited edition, was mastered by Bob Weston (Shellac) at Chicago Mastering Service. The goal for the band in 2010 is to promote their first release and immediately afterwards playing gigs in Spain and hopefully in Europe. SPIFFhAUS! are already working on their sophomore album (a bunch of songs have already been recorded) which will hopefully see the light next year.

Due to the blisteringly powerful live shows SPIFFhAUS! deliver (the band have shared the Barcelona stages with the Spanish Marciana, La Maravillosa Cabeza Parlante, Muzak and the French Tapetto Traci among others), as vital and fresh as those of the post-punk bands in the late 70's, they have earned a loyal fan base in their home town.
